Yes. I was wondering. I checked aol online news, and they said he's in very bad shape, now. He received the last rites yesterday, I believe?
This is sad news to people of faith all around the world. He has been an inspirational spiritual leader, an innovator, and a traditionalist all rolled up in one.
To the Catholic DFers, especially, my heartfelt condolences.

Thanks. He has done more for world peace in the last 30 years than anyone I know of. :-(

Yeah, I sort of had a feeling that it wouldn't be long. He struggled awfully during Easter trying to speak. :(

Reportedly he is now back at his apartment from the hospital. I'm not sure how much lnger he will hang on. It has been said that he said "it is finished". If this is true, his will to live may be very weak and he is *ready* to go.

Yes...whatever his faults he has done a lot for humanity.

No kidding. If he didn't have faults of any kind, he'd be God wouldn't he? Nobody is perfect....

I actually loved the Pope's anti-war stance. And the guy is still hanging on...
