You never know. It depends on what was being judged and who was doing the judging.

Hmm. That reminds me. I'll have to google and see who won the TV dance show competition in the UK. Some body (guy, I think) logged in here several weeks back and was really pushing for Gem and Emma or somebody like that. Hmm. Can I remember? :?

 Your memory is doing very well ... That guy, might have been me  or Ms Sunlight, or Huey ...

No one has won the competition as yet (www.bbc.co.uk/strictlydancefever). There are weekly knockouts and it has another six weeks or so to go? Similar to American Idol in that respect ...

Yes, me being silly again.

What's the show actually called? Ballroom Dance Idol? If you have a correct title, it should be easy to find on the net. 8)

Hmm. I google it. Found a blog and a couple gossip sites. Then I looked at ABC's homepage (Australian Broadcasting Corp.) Couldn't find a show-specific page. I bet it's there though. I'm just swamped this morning and don't have time to track it down.

Any bored and/or un-busy googlers on board?

81 couples have been selected to compete for the title over 40 weeks

Yikes! That is not a dance competition, that is an endurance test! The one in the UK lasts roughly 12/13 weeks? Three weeks of "live" auditions and then 9 weeks of living in a house together and learning a new dance & putting together a new routine each week.

Edit:

Salsa
Salsa is a term used to describe a variety of Latin American couple dances, both Cuban and Columbian. Fuelled by the growth of Hispanic Communities in the United States, it arose from a conscious attempt to re-brand Latin American dance music and bring it out of its decline.

This is interesting. For the BBC version, they are doing BOTH cuban salsa and mambo, mambo coming from Cuba and being similiar to cuban salsa, with subtle differences :? (Why not have them dance salsa On2  or even one of the other dances that were part of the Australian competition  ?)

Cocktail Samba
Cocktail Samba is a combination of Ballroom Samba and Brazilian Samba.

Nuevo Tango
Nuevo Tango is a combination of traditional Ballroom Tango and Argentine Tango.

Paso Flamenco
Paso Flamenco is a marriage of the Paso Doble and Flamenco dance styles.
