Hi, I'm new here. Has anyone seen that new Omarion video "Touch?" And the way he moves when he's doing in solo (the feet seem as if they are gliding)? Are there any tips/sites to give little tutorials on how to do that? Or maybe people can help me here. I'm about half-way to getting those kinds of moves down but it's just so hard.

Thanks! You guys seem very cool here, I've been reading around the forums for a while.

Welcome to df. :)

Nope. Haven't seen it but I don't have time for anything but salsa/rueda mostly these days. There are quite a few others on df who do others sorts of dancing, so hopefully you will get a little help soon.

The parts where he's soloing is a style of dance called Liquid, which is a derivative of raving. It's been on the scene for years, but is slowly making it mainstream (sadly). The rest of the video is actually a really interesting hybrid between liquid and hip hop, reminiscing of jerks and the robot.

It's so fun to watch dance evolve :) Check out the video here http://www.vibe.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=733

Come to think of it, that little 5 person formation piece in there is probably in the top 10 liquid performances I've ever seen. Too bad it's a pretty shitty video for showing off moves. I'm going to slow it down and recut it and then we'll see what it looks like :)

Too bad the music is bad, the video is sweet.

I don't care for Omarion (I'm showing my age here  I'm assuming he's a teenage heartthrob, from all the press he's been getting lately.) But I'll keep an eye out for the video. It's getting airplay where? Hip-hop? R&B? Or pop video stations?

On 106 & Park (BET) it's usually in the top 5, so you can try to catch the last half of that. And on TRL (MTV) it's usually in the top 5 also. And the link Breathe posted has the video also, just scroll down.

it's called popping locking and botting. and usher and whoever the hell that other guy is are the worst examples of it. watch michael jackson.

i have some brief guides and some videos on my site, I am in the midst of doing detailed guides but they aren't up yet, i'm rather busy. http://nazworkshop.vze.com

I wouldn't say they are the worst examples of it... I think all three (MJ, Usher, Omarion) are all great dancers - they just differ in style. But I guess that's your opinion. Btw naz, checked out your site and d/l'd some of your dance vids - nice. :)

You are quite boisterous with your opinions. We know you don't like Usher nor Omar, and are totally obsessed with MJ. We know you have a website that shows that you have an ego the size of Mt. Everest. Get off your high horse, will ya?

I don't think it's very nice to be negative about the dancing of others unless you can be constructive with it. Sometimes you're just not on the same groove as them, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I still think the Billie Jean video is one of the greatest things I've ever seen, but I don't like some other stuff MJ did at all. But I'm not going out there saying, "MJ is utter pants" -- and likewise I wouldn't say the same about Usher or whoever. If you don't like it you don't like it. Let those who do like it enjoy it and don't kill the joy, eh?

Speaking of various dance styles, has anybody seen the video for "Let Me Love You," a song by Mario that was popular last summer? What dance is he doing in that video? Is that liquid?

To be honest, I couldn't tell if he was good or bad at it. I found the dancing very, very distracting, since he was singing a love ballad but wouldn't stand still and sing it.  His body kept ... flowing all over the place, but he didn't hit any hard poses. It's kinda hard to describe, but if you've seen the video, I think you'll know what I mean.

A funny aside is that, until I saw the video, I loved the song. I jammed to it all summer long. But, now that I've seen the video, every time I hear the song, I get images of his dancing, which turns me way off. The funny thing is the dancing would've been perfect in a different video. *shrug*

It takes quite a bit of practice. I've been trying for awhile, but since i'm lazy it's just whenever is see somebody doing it and I'm like what that's the only time i'll get up and start practicing. In my opionion i think that MJ is the best at doing those moves. I mean Omarion and Usher or whatever are alright but they are only good to a certain extent.

Oh, oh. That was clever. I am going solely based on what you have said over the past few months. :)

Just for the record, we've already had this conversation in another thread. So could we all please keep calm and keep the tone pleasant or as pleasant as possible? That would be much appreciated. 8)

Heya every1, new member here,
i'v been reading these threads for ages and never got round to registering, untill now, but Wahey! i'm here now :D

anyway, i wouldn't call myself strictly a dancer, but i do enjoy dancing. I havn't had any formal training or anything like that. I'v bin learning a few moves from what ppl have been saying esp. d nice (cheers!)
so i can now (just about) moonwalk sideways and backwards, but what i really want to be able to do is this glide i saw Usher do. Its kind of a sideways slide. Kinda hard to explain lol, if anyone can help it wud b great!

Cheers

ps. this is the nicest forum i'v been on, iv been on a couple of others and this is definately the most friendly!

That automatically makes your first post (the one where you claim to know so much about me) completely useless then. And posting smiley emoticons doesn't make you witty, contrary to what you believe (I'M JUST GOING BY WHAT YOU SAID - see, I can be innacurately judgmental like you too) :)
