Hmm.. Does David Letterman still do stupid pet tricks? I haven't watched his show since he got famous and arrogant, but back in the day, he used to have people come on and show off dumb, fun, or extraordinary things their pets could do.

Well, people in this forum have sounded off on everything from books, to movies, to restaurants. So now, how about pets?

Anybody have a juicy, my pet is the cutest thing on earth, story to share?

Yes letterman still does stupid pet tricks. We're going to see him tomorrow in NY!

I taught my dog how to sing along with "How much is that Doggie in the Window?" I sit at the piano and play it, and he barks at the appropriate time. It's really funny.

Although this is not a trick, my cat likes to watch tv, specifically Animal Planet. If you're watching tv, sometimes he looks at the tv and then looks at you (as if to say please put on my show)....so I change the channel and he watches animal planet. It's hilarious.

my dog used to chase her tail to entertain us. she'd go for 20 minutes non stop, it was pretty weird

My kitty also does the tail chasing thing...I just don't understand!

Lately though, my kitty has been doing really weird things...I seriously think she's on drugs...not sure where she's getting them from, but she is crazy.

We (kitty and I) were sitting on the bed one night. All of a sudden she stares up at the ceiling and starts meowing. Next think I know, she's cowering down to the covers as though she was scared. Then, she's trying to climb the wall to get up to the ceiling. It was almost like she was trying to chase an imaginary bird that was trying to attack her.

I, being the imaginative person I am, started thinking my bedroom was haunted and freaked out until my fiance came home and assured me little Winnie (kitty) was just mock hunting. I guess cats often pretend to hunt...???? Scared me silly!

She also likes to have ALL the attention. Like right now, she keeps walking onto the keyboard and then jumping into my lap and trying to crawl over my shoulder. She's just too cute!

She not a calico by any chance... they're nuts!!!

My cat des not chase his tail... he chases the shadow of his tail. Somehow I don;t think that's better but at least he can't do it in the dark!!

No...she's an American domestic short hair. She also chases shadows and we recently found out she likes flashlights...

Okay...I just have to say the holiday season gets much more interesting with a kitty around.

We brought the Christmas tree home Sunday night and little Winnie sat in the middle of our living room howling at the tree for the majority of the evening. Not really sure why??? :(

By Monday morning, she had made friends with the tree and proceeded to throw her toys into it. Then, of course, she has to go in after the toy and retreive it. It's insane!

Yesterday, my fiance bought a new toy for her and she pretty much keeps away from the tree...it's still insanity!

Gotta love the Winnie! :D

I have a BIG malamute/husky cross dog named Jordan. Last summer we found him lying on the patio floor for almost the entired day. It was kinda strange, but not really strange enough for us to really worry or anything.

Then Dad went out to talk to him, and found that he couldn't move from his spot......I go there and found him to be a bit stressed......so we went 'oh, no.......he might have had a stroke...! '

I called the vet to warn them that we may have a LARGE immobile dog, the we manouver the car around the backyard etc......

Then we found out WHY he couldn't move   ......

His collar somehow got caught between the timber slat of the patio floor  !

He was distressed because he needed a drink  !

Swing Kitten - The tree is decorated now and little Winnie believes all the lights are her new play toys. When my fiance was hanging the lights he kept hearing this *ting* *ting* noise. He looked down and found little Winnie quizically staring at the lights and then she pounded at it and tried to eat it...way not cool. She seems to be over that now and just likes the tree skirt and the very bottom of the tree. I can only imagine what will happen when we put presents under the tree.

salsachinita - Aww...is Jordan okay?

I would like to initiate the "cats are better than dogs fight".

They are.

Beware of the decorations. My cat found it particular funny to give the glass balls (is this the right word) a right hook, and then chasing them around the living room. Impressive it didn’t get hurt with some shattered glass here and there.

When we moved the “dangerous” decoration a level up, if just entered the tree, making all the toys come down to the floor with the tree included.

From here, it was different rooms for cat and tree.

A suggestion. Put some hooks in the roof/high on the walls around your tree and tie your tree to them with fishing line or some other near invisible string. Make sure you get it supported from all sides, and then it can't fall down.

Winnie has actually be pretty good with the tree. She likes to lay under it now, but doesn't really go after the ornaments too much. That could be because the bottom quarter of the tree is bare...we tried to out plan the kitty. :D

She did, very unfortunately, get a hold of a piece of tinsel the other day. Which I had to fetch...it was nearly gone by the time I got to her...nasty, gross, ugh.  :x (note: we need a "sick" face)

Apart from the tinsel, which has since been moved up the tree...it's seems to be going okay. I've begun adding empty boxes under the tree so we can fill them with presents when we finally get to shopping, and she seems to enjoy playing with them. I'm thinking wrapping gifts might be done at friend's place this year. :D
