Grapes are considered a delicacy here and are absurdly expensive. I have not purchased grapes in Japan my entire 20 years here, can you imagine? I can't wait till fall when I go to Hawaii and I will GORGE on fruit!

I use a roller of sticky paper for the same purpose. You can buy it in local stores and get refills when it's finished.

ON your desk?
I confess. I actually had them under my desk but for a moment there I was overcome by an panicked thought of them dissapearing in a puff of smoke and had to place them within my grasp. :P
You know how hard it is to find good Latin heels these days... Not to mention they're a very dear gift from a very dear friend of mine. :D

Why keep fruit in the fridge? It will lose some of its taste. Try keeping them in a dark and cold place in a box, like under the sink in a cupboard for instance. Especially if they're not ripe yet.
ON:
- a pair of broken down scissors
- digital camera
- car's insurance
- USB flash drive
- a thing called "livret de famille", a common "ID booklet" for a family, that every married couple gets

It gets hot here, so I keep some fruits, like grapes, berries, peaches, melons, in the fridge or they spoil very quickly. My apples and bananas and other hardy fruits don't get refrigerated. So it depends. 8)

Oh, and I've added a phone and a couple stuffed animal toys to my desktop. Soon, there'll be no room for my computer.

At work, I did have:
Two candy dishes (one with hard candy, one with chocolate)
A Frank Sinatra doll (he held my business cards in his hands)
Pictures of the grandkids
A leather lizard
Two Mardi Gras clowns from New Oleans.
But a couple of months ago, I got really annoyed with my boss and took ALL my personal stuff home and now just have regular office supplies on my desk (boring).

Amazing how few bosses catch onto those kinds of signals. I bet if you quit tomorrow, your boss would be shocked and say he/she didn't see it coming. Sheesh.
