If you wonder what time it is for your friends at dance-forums you could check The World Clock (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/full.html). (Stockholm is the capital of Sweden if you wonder about my time.)

Thanks, pr. :D I think I'm going to bookmark that site, because I do have friends in other parts of the world. Makes it easier to make oversea calls without annoying people, if you actually know what time it is.

Slightly related as it deals with real time and solar time, I read a book on Longitude the other day. Interesting stuff as the so many boats were getting lost at see or crashing into land.

In order to find longitude you have to know what time it is in one location and what time it is where you are (Greenwich, England now being standard base time due to the discovery of longitude and the base of operations...and now the meridian).

I'm such a dork. But it really was interesting. There were all these astronomers saying you could find longitude by the stars, but it had to be a cloudless night and wasn't acurate. They were all on this board set up by King George (III I believe, not sure at moment) to award a heavy monetary prize (equivalent of $12mil USD today). This guy made a clock that was accurate within a few seconds (weather, winding, and water had affected past clock attempts) and all the astronomers tryed to prevent him from winning his prize money.

It's like a soap opera with science.
