hello, I would like to know if there exists some workable notation method to write down dance patterns. In my case I like to notate la rueda o salsa casino. I am an advanced rueda dancer but keep on forgetting the patterns from previous levels.
All info on this subject would be welcome.
Tjaracas.
There are lots of movement notations, mostly created in the ballet / modern dance worlds. Google on Laban, Benesh, Sutton. Also see here (http://www.ballet.co.uk/jan98/dance_notation_1.htm). Mostly they have been replaced by videotape, as far as I can tell.

Thanks. Here http://www.comp.leeds.ac.uk/royce/htmlpaper/nea-0303-001-sur.html I found some excellent reading material.
IMHO Video tapes contain some info but are not handy when you are on the dance floor and need to remember some moves. I make use of small cards with self made notes but now I go study this excellent reading material.
