hi
I'm dancing do-ballroom and swing. I just LOVE swing. It's my live. Do-ballroom is more that i can dance one occations where there is no swing. But it's not that much fun, and i don't have to go on every possible dance possibility.
So i was curious if it's the same with you guys, do you dance more than one kind of dance, and you just feel very passionate about the one, or are you the same passionate with all of them?

I dance mostly salsa because that's the only dance I know better and feel comfortable with. I did a little ballroom a few years ago, but I lost my interest too soon. If I've time and money, I would be interested in learning all kinds of dances. My appreciation for dancing has grown substantially over the past couple of years. I would love to learn swing and hip hop; I could see myself getting really into it.

I find that swing is much more relaxing for me than ballroom, like I've hit that point where (as a follow) I don't think about too much and just dance. Ballroom is not there yet for me so even though I take classes in both and hope to compete in both (I've only done pro ams in Lindy so far) on a Friday night where I just want to have a good time I tend to be at the swing dance.

I dance multiple styles of dance and am very passionate about each. I still have one favorite that I am most passionate about, but they are all important to me.

I dance ballroom. Ballroom is my passion. I'm picking up a little salsa but I haven't got time to practice ballroom and practice salsa. So I'll settle for going to a salsa club from time to time and picking up what I can during the lesson at the dance. I do a little lindy but it doesn't really do it for me so I don't go to swing dances anymore.

I do ballroom (tango, foxtrot, waltz) Latin (cha cha, samba, merengue, rumba) and swing (jive & WCS) at a ballroom & latin studio called Dance Domain. At times the ballroom syllabus gets a bit boring (although I enjoy trying to get especially Latin technique really well...) But my favourite by far is salsa! I just like the salsa club scene a lot more - it's vibey, its dynamic, it's vibrant, it's a buzz!! I also like the freedom salsa gives to experiment and improvise.

Though I have gravitated more and more to WCS I still enjoy the variety of social ballroom dances.

I dance predominantly Irish set dancing, I do it at least 3-4 nights a week, I also do Irish solo step dancing, 2-3 nights a week, and swing 1 or 2 nights a week. I want to get into ballroom as well, but need an extra day or two in the week. Irish dancing will allways be my passion, swing is just something to fill in tuesday nights. But I certainly won't be giving it up.

I dance multiple styles and will even be adding Salsa in August to my lineup. I am currently doing Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Hip-Hop, Popping and Locking (Derived from Hip-hop), and a very small amount of Break Dancing. (I haven't had an official break dance class yet but in my classes I've been taught a little here and there) -- I am definitely the most passionate about Popping and Locking/Hip-Hop since I think it looks the "coolest." I enjoy all the crazy moves and styles and that it isn't as constrained as other styles. (Ballet)

I love my other dances though and would never give them up -- Ballet and Jazz are great because of how physically demanding they can be. (Ballet especially) -- I am almost always sore from Ballet but I have always seen good muscle growth and great flexibility gains. (I used to do Bodybuilding at one point in my life so I am in to that type of thing). I also really enjoy leaps and such because as a male dancer, I can really show off my ability to gain great height that women cannot. Finally, in my area there is HARDLY any Jazz/Ballet MALE dancers. I am always in a class with lots of women and I can't complain.

Ultimately, I also enjoy tap because I like the sounds of the shoes. I am a very rhythmatically inclined person (If that is even a word). I love making up beats and such with my tap shoes.

I am pretty excited to start Salsa dancing in August though. I've done some partner dancing in my hip-hop performances (Nothing totally demanding though) and I always thought it was fun.

I want to add that I feel to become the best possible dancer you can be you need to take every style you can. To make yourself a truly unique dancer you have to incorporate styles from all different areas. (IE Michael Jackson) -- If you become too focused in one area I feel you may loose some of that uniqueness.

I've danced ballet, bellydance, early dance (renaissance & baroque), AT, 'vintage partner dancing'(i don't know how else to call it; dances like charleston bossa nova one-step etc), Bharatanatyam, even ice skated ( :? wow, that was something else...),
thinking of taking hiphopclasses, more bellydancing and starting lindyhop (if i can find a teacher & a partner).....but salsa has totaly swept me off my feet.

Salsa(and bachata, merengue, cumbia, etc) just because it is so much fun, sexy and the music is GREAT! Can you say that about ballroom? (in reference to the music)

I think every individual just clicks better with one dance over the others. I'm not say that they don't like the other dances, but for mose people, I think there's one that just clicks.

nope. I was not sure. It was just a theory. That's why i asked. But since it seems to be like that, the theory seems to be correct.

Yesterday night, during our last party in school time, (this morning, we had to go the last time - with 0 - 1 1/2 h of sleep), i had a conversation about certain things with one of my teachers. And i think it's right when Uli says, that there is one thing, that just makes you feel happy on your way, and that this thing is different for everyone. That's probably also why everyone has different styles he loves.

I dance a host of afro-latin (cuban, peruvian, PRican, brazillian) and african dances, in addition to having tried the various ballroom dances
I much prefer the former as the drumming and rhythms are much more inspirational to me, and sometimes hybrids like afro-modern are worth trying. I love taking classes and workshops whenever I find them, excellent for experimentation, and great basis for shines in salsa

It's a given I hip hop all that jazz, but there's nothing like syncopated drum beats to get things cookin 8)

I dance ballroom, salsa and I'm starting swing. In addition, I used to dance ballet, tap, jazz, musical theatre, hip hop, lyrical, irish, belly dance and hula. I'm looking at getting back into the jazz and tap in the fall.

My favourite is salsa and the latin club dances. I have the most fun there...I just love the feeling of freedom. :)
