dispositions/moods toward particular dances

a great deal has been said about different tecniques of varying dances...but I'd like to know what sort of mood/disposition/attitude/mental image...people conjure up to dance the various forms of smooth and standard dances in a way that distinguishes them from one another.....

On time a friend of mine and I spent a giggly afternoon likening the Standard dances to dairy products.

Waltz = Brie
Tango = Pepper Jack
V. Waltz = (I forgot...suggestions anyone?)
Foxtrot = Cream Cheese
Quickstep = Whipped Cream

i have progressed to the point that i can tell standard from smooth, but within the two categories everything pretty much looks the same to me.

if cheese is the analogy, i would say

standard = pricey french brie
smooth = processed, unnaturally colored american port wine cheese product sold in a fake crock.


if given a choice, i always go for the port wine. great on crackers, keeps forever.

wow, that's harsh...actually I would like to get away from food analogies soon if we may...aside from that, i wouldn't mind exploring the smooth/ standard images as well as the individual dances within them but that really wasn't what I was setting out to do...I have a strong appreciation for both....I am trying to think of an analogy myself like ...hmmm... okay...maybe smooth is more like foreplay...and standard well, you know...or...and, my husband would love this, smooth is like an airshow when the planes are interacting by coming apart and separating but standard is like when they are in formation...both difficult...both beautiful, in different ways ....not very good but hey, I am up a 1:30 pm having been sound asleep...and dont even know it I am typing correctly at this point....anyhow, my main interest was in things like not only the cheese analogy or car analogies or whatever...and I do like those....but what sort of "affect" do you have toward your partner when dancing each.. and by each I mean T/FT/W/VW and QS of either the smooth or standard flavor except for QS of course.
