Hi surrealgyrl! :D Welcome to the forums. :D

Leaps and turns as in cheerleading, or theater arts? Not that I have any earthly clue about either. I like to keep my feet on the ground at all times. Just want to clarify, because there are people on this board who can probably answer yuor questions. Just not me.

I checked out your personal website, BTW. Totally cool! :D

Welcome again. I hope you find the answers you need here. :D

Take care, Allison. And don't hesistate to ask if you need anything else. :D

Our user trafic is sporadic... sometimes no one logged in for a couple of hours to over 40 users on line all at once. Some users check in regularly and others -- because of work, travel plans, etc. -- are sometimes MIA for a couple of weeks at a time. I'm sure that anyone who has suggestions for you will be happy to share them as soon as they can... :D

Man! It is really hard to find any information like what you want. I'm hoping that one or two of our members who actually know about this will log in. :?

All I could find so far were these two links -- one has conditioning exercises, the other stretching and flexibility exercises. Under hip hop, I found mostly advertsiements for lots and lots of videos -- maybe not a bad idea, if your team has a small budget to spare. But if you want freebie information, here's what I've found so far. Hope it helps. I'll keep looking. By the way, be careful how you look up cheerleaders. I found links to a lot of porn sites, too.

Welcome to the Forum Family, Allison!

At the present moment I don't have answer to your quest for leaps and turns, but I'll do some research this weekend.

You may want to try previous issues of Dance Spirit Magazine...I know they recently had some excellent articles about kicks and turns. I'll see if I can dig up those issues within the next few days. In the mean time, try their website at http://www.dancespirit.com.

All the best!

Did you look at the thread "Spins and Turns and All" or something like that? I think it's salsa-based, but there's a lot of great advice there that applies to good quality turns in any dance discipline.

A couple more links:

An article which recommends ballet training for basic technique in leaps and turns Http://www.dtda.org/insights/ballet.htm

An overview article on dance team technque http://dancecheer.net/technique.html

And I'll PM you another link you may find interesting. :D

Hey surrealgyrl. :D

Have you checked out the POM column in Dance Spirit magazine? Pretty cool, and seemingly a regular feature. The latest issue has an article on the leadership roles for students on high school/college dance teams. You might want to check it out. :D
