I love El Gran Combo period, but my current favorite of theirs is "Amor A Control Remoto"!

I love that song, but it's not for the weak of heart!

Really Fernando? Do you like dancing to this? While I can deance to it, I never feel like I actually ever have time to dance to songs like this... too turbo for my dancing tastes I guess... :?

The thing about Salsa Con Coco is that it really brings me
back to my country, Dominican Republic. The entire song
is about the streets of DR and I just love is a fast song
though, but the images that come to my mind when I hear, I just love it.

Makes sense. I was just curious. And this thread is about "All Time Greatest Hits" which, in and of itself, doesn't always mean the most danceable songs...

Although this does than sort of tie back into the Learning Spanish thread... while one need not know Spanish to appreciate salsa or to dance it, there is something to being able to understand it as well... i.e. if you didn't understand the lyrics to Salsa Con Coco it is unlikely that it could have the same saliency for you.

That's a point, but at the same time, Cocoband being from
Dominican Republic, their music will appeal to people of
the even knowing spanish, unless you are there
and know what if feels like to be there, I don't know if you
    could really "get" it...

Does that make sense at all?

Absolutely! I take it just to be one more "layer." Speaking/understanding Spanish helps with understanding the manifest content of the lyrics whereas personal familiarity (with the location) lets you access that deeper layer, of latent content, also held within the lyrics.

Hi SD. I know what you mean. But I love this song too. The trick to turbo salsa is not making your moves too big. You can still smooth it out with passing out before the end of the song and still keep your timing. Check out some of the couples at this link:
Some are high energy and some are just taking easy. :D

I'm with you SD. Although I enjoy dancing to this song a lot, it is too fast paced for my style, and my desires on the dancefloor. There is barely any time to groove a pattern out. Although a dancer can look smooth dancing fast, there really isn't a comparison to a dancer dancing smooth to a slower song, where we can accentuate and savor every bodily movement.

Thanks Peach. Yes Boriken, that's exactly what I'm talking about. I still dance smooth, even when up tempo such as to Salsa Con Coco but it doesn't match my style/preferences as well as non-turbo material does.

Pleasure to have you aboard. Welcome to DF TheArchon..

BTW. I love HURCAN by Bobby Valentin.

Huracan de passion, vuelve me a asotar, y vuelveme a llevar a donde ella esta.

Huracain of passion, beat on me again, and take me back to where she is. Then surprissingly the songs says, so I can tell her I don't love her anymore. WEPAAA!!!
