du jour: Rumba and Waltz...
I wonder how dance guy is doing these days. It's been a long time since I've "seen" him.
Foxtrot and waltz these days, and although a hardcore standard girl, I'm really loving night-club 2 socially for some reason. I guess it's one place I can forget about worrying over precise technique and just feel and be the music.
I love Nightclub 2-Step because it's relaxing and it fits many good romantic songs. Yes, Andreth, it is great for social dancing...
And it's a sweet, fairly easy, accessible dance.
In order (all International Style):
Favorite: Quickstep and Tango. I can't really pick one as a favorite because they have such different personalities. Apples to Oranges.
Kind of Eh:
Samba (this would be higher if I was actually good at it)
Don't Really know, but would like to:
As you can tell, I'm a bit more of a Standard dancer than Latin.
Dances that make me want to hide under the table whenever they come on:
Group 2: OK
Group 3: it's time to take a break
In my list of favourite dance salsa is no top
I am wierd for salsa, other one is ballroom dance
Line dancing of any kind
I liked this thread better when people just said what they liked. Saying what you hate will inevitably ruffle someone's feathers. As for hating line dancing of any kind I can only assume you are ignorant of the variety of line dances on the planet. Line dances include Greek, Romanian, Bulgarian, Serbian, Croatian, Macedonian, Albanain, Armenian, Turkish, Israeli and many others. I wonder how many you have been exposed to before concluding that you hate all of them.
Fair point. Israeli line dancing is particularly fun and upbeat. If I ever had the time, I'd love to explore the international dance genre.
And what about contra dancing of any kind?
In our tango community we use to dance a Chacarera argentina at our parties at midnight.
currently; love waltz of all sorts, smooth vw, tango (am or intl)
like; qs (would be in the love category with my pro or someone of that level only) and intl vw, ru and cha of both variations, samba, swing and jive, as well as paso as long as it is gold syllabus or open, bolero (though I'd like to know more of it), wcs (though I know almost none of it)
tolerable but not really into it; mambo, salsa, merengue, hustle, bachata (though this varies greatly depending upon WITH WHOM I might be dancing
My fav social: Lindy Hop
current favs: am. viennese waltz and bolero (which i'd never thought i would like)
