takes me back to england...
split-cane coarse rod fishing
well pictures of the rods were a bit "so what?" but this looked interesting (selecting the raw materials) :

'so what' to you maybe but most of the world has no idea what a split cane rod is. Indeed, the whole sport of coarse fishing in England would not be understood - in particular since you can't actually eat most of the fish...
fortunately, you and QPO posted at the same time so I got my picture (used to love fishing in those slow-moving canals.... 2lb breaking strain line, porcupine quill float, and no fish to disturb you from sitting enjoying nature and a cup of coffee from the thermos.... )
here's number one
and heres the growing capers puff puff puff
was a better picture than the ones I saw - wasnt dissing the fishing, just the quality of the images . You go fish down the canal if you want to

I really didn't think you were dissing anything - but that maybe you were not aware that while such fishing is boring in England its actually very unusual elsewhere. One could probably do a pretty good monty-pythonesque skit on it here.... after all, the point of fishing is to catch a fish and eat it n'est pas? they don't understand the concept of fishing being purely for sport...
that may be the biggest image we'v e had yet - I looked at it for a while but still haven't seen all of it
no wasnt aware! Is this rather like dance as social activity and as "sport" then ? (sorry couldnt resist tickling that old trout )
thats strange, the steam train left the station and now the (equally gigantic) express is coming through ... love it, takes me back as well.... this is the nostalgia thread!
the most honest one I could find
next: amazing photography
Just one of many incredible images - a dog embryo in the womb :
