Is there a link? Between "malena" and "asi se baila el tango"? Same malena/helena?

You mean "Asi se baila el tango" from the cd "Música para Bailarines" by Emilio Haro, Gabriel Barredo and Vero Verdier? Perhaps you could ask Emilio himself. I´ve recently found his profile on FB. But I fear meanwhile he vigorously distances himself from such kind of sins in his youth ;)

No, by Canaro! The words say something about the lines "since tonight Malena sings no more".
Maybe she was famous, a fictional or real character from that period?
