Happy to help. Except that now I'm hungry again.
After having waffles swimming in maple syrup for breakfast, I dare say most of this sweet stuff looks disgusting to me. (I think it is my guilty conscience.)
for some odd reason almost all sweets almost always look disgusting to me...carbs, salt, and cheese are a different thing...we had an active cheese thread and an active wine thread and you will note that those are two that I do not resurrect very often
heh, I have like 6 kinds of cheese in this house, if not more.
we are on a total ban...and I have lost 10 pounds, in spite of occasional cheating
And have to cheat occasinoally, otherwise you'll never stick with it. Of course, have to be careful of your definition of occasionally.
they do those cakes over here in the UK. I've not had one for yonks. Just thinking of that mass cream filling is enough to make me melt.
However, I can't eat too much marzipan else I feel sick with it being sooo sweet.
Mmmmm if there's one cake I'd love to be pie faced with it would be that one....
There's a bakery about 20 miles from me that does the prinsesstarta, haven't had an occasion to have one lately. I normally don't eat the marzipan, just the insides.
Did have one long ago at my wedding as a groom's cake....
I love marzipan. In fact sometimes around Christmas I'll make a dense yellow cake, poke holes in it with fork, and pour rum over it. Then I'll roll out marzipan and cover the top, and then color the marzipan red, green, and yellow and make marzipan poinsettias for the top.
Marzipan is fun to play with; it's like edible play-doh. I once made a huge, multi layer cake (like a wedding cake) for an autumn celebration, and my family and friends and I put together a number of marzipan decorations -- acorns, leaves, fruits, and a marzipan moose for the topper, where the "bride and groom" should have gone. We used shaping tools, painted everything with luster dust, had a blast. The cake was tasty, too. I wonder if anyone has photos? If I can get some I'll post them.
I just don't like almond flavor, so don't eat marzipan. But Spouse loves it, so many a handcrafted, time-itensive acorn got popped in his mouth.
I also make marzipan carrots whenever I make a carrot cake. So cute. So orange.
If I ever win the lottery, I offer you the role of 'lady of the cake making residing'... :notworth:
Baked Alaska anyone?
baked alaska? okay there's at least another 5 cyber pounds....
You're on! Hey, I like playing with my food, and if the results of play come out looking like Montmorency cherries but are really marzipan, that's loads o' fun.
BTW, I'll cheerfully bake to order.
I've had that dessert once in my life and I still remember how amazing it was. I should try to find it again somewhere...
simple, yet effective...
hot fudge cake... add ice cream for yum yum....
close up of apple cake...
okay the fudge cake is gonna' kill me....
Then just pass it my way and I'll make your problem disappear
*grin* do ya' think it's really gonna' make it that far? LOL!
