Salsa > Timba, and everyone escapes from the dance floor

    Over here (Hamburg, Germany) nobody would have the courage to dance unrestrained despelote moves in public. What are your experiences?

    Over here in SE Asia, most dancers can't even tell the difference between the different sub-genres of salsa music... so the issue of having the courage to dance to timba doesn't even arise.

    In Stockholm people people are generally not shy about dancing despelote. I remember a few years ago when the club El Benny opened they were playing Manolito and pretty much the entire dance floor switched to despelote during the bomba section (can't remember the song unfortunately) but it was really fun to see everyone reacting to the music like that. Wish I had been filming (I was dancing). It was a textbook example of how dancers respond to gear changes in Timba.

    The only "gear " changes most dancers know, is in the car they drive :rolleyes:

    And in some countries most people drive automatics LOL
