It goes both ways here ladies. I've actually had to leave parties because women who I had/have no interest in just can't take the hint that I'm not interested in them! When you're a reasonably good looking guy with a personality and can dance it's sometimes a disadvantage!

That's when you discuss your rate as an escort. But I've had the same happen. I had to have a conversation with one person that started telling everone that where dating. But most of the time I find it flattering.

That's a good point, Liveaboard. It does cut both ways. You're right.

Definitely. I once was showing a girl how to do balboa at a dance and she kept pressing her pelvis into me. I stopped a couple times to explain the connection. At first, I went at it subtly and said we should be connecting more at the chest, but after a couple more times and she still was pressing with her pelvis, I finally said "we shouldn't be connecting 'down there'". Yet she continued to do it. I eventually had to excuse myself in the middle of the dance because it started to become embarrassing. She obviously was enjoying my discomfort.

I don't ask her to dance anymore.

Now, I don't mind infrequent incidental contact, but I don't like the fact that she was doing this on purpose. I have no interest in her, but even if I did, that's just inappropriate.

  6. I started taking dance lessons as a result of a telephone solicitation for 3 free lessons. I didn't even know it was for Ballroom. Frankly, I didn't know anything about Ballroom. I always loved dancing and used to date a lady who was into Modern Dance, so I thought it was going to be something in line with that. I always loved dancing freestyle at clubs and really became intriqued with dancing when I saw some of the dancing in a Vegas Show. But, the phone call got me to try it out and I loved Ballroom right away.

Yes, there are guys who love dance. When I go to a studio for lessons, it's to learn and also to enjoy the love of dance with others. I think alot of women assume you're there to try to pick up women. Some of us have longer term goals than just getting lucky. If you happen to meet the woman of your dreams there, that would be great.

Also, the comment about a guy expecting sex after spending money on a woman for dinner/drinks or whatever is wrong, IMO. If you really have an interest in getting to know a woman, then I feel it's worth taking the time to find out if you really have any type of connection. It's my pleasure to treat a classy lady to dinner even if it's just as friends. It's a small price to pay. Ever see how much a divorce costs?

A great dance takes an excellent connection and so does a great relationship. Why waste your time on anything less?

There are numerous single people that regularily attend dances we go to and they have the same attitude as you do. The ones there for other reasons, quickly find out they are in the wrong place <g>.

But no seriously I love my dancing, and I plan to further enhance my dancing seriously once I get the money and the hours to do so.

There are a lot of great folks, men and women, here on DF. It's too bad that geography separates us the way it does. Some day, when we all have transporters in our houses, we'll all have to get together somewhere and have a big barn dance. ;)

Well, I thought I could fing DF folks from the same city and maybe get together for a social, but the Search functionality on this website seems to be a bit crippled... Apparently the moderators have turned of member search by city..

Lol! Well, SuzieQ and I live in the same city and go to the same studio! I didn't know she was even on this message board until she pm'd me lol. So, in some ways some of the DF members have already met lol!;)

  18. This was a fluke phonecall for me. Finally, a telephone solicitation that had merit.

By the way, I asked the studio how successful the campaign was in recruiting new students and they claimed that very few people end up coming in to take the 3 free lesson offer but, of the ones who did, 100% sign up for more lessons. Don't know how true that is, but even if it's 60%. Pretty amazing.
