definitely tell! I smoked a cigar once at a friend's and then went to a salsa club. Luckily i was dancing with a friend and she yelled at me for my super strong cigar breath. its things like that that made me improve. it sucked that once, but I made a lot of changes based on that incident, and a couple of others.

Now, I shower, brush, and eat a mint before i go to a club. And then once I'm there, I have listerine pocket pax on me all the time.

LOL - this is priceless. I can't stop laughing. how do you know the farting is silent ? this is a salsa club ;)
And now I'm wondering if her wonderfully light following has anything to do with the outgassing from her posterior.

Also, its funny how you point out statistical significance. Your best bet is to participate with her in casino rueda. Ask anybody else if they smelt anything afterwards.

But I can't imagine (biologically) why this would happen during a spin. You need to see whether it gets worse for double, triple spins. What about dips, T-stances, and some of those infamous 'grab her hair and bend her forwards' moves ? I'm betting its a co-incidence.

LMAO. I was just telling a friend about this post last night. If you think about it, it's pretty clear how the spinning is correlated with the farting. If this is a good dancer, she's prepping hard before the spin. When you prep, you body is all wound up and all the air gets wrung out (in yogi-speak, your internal organs get a massage). I bet salsa is the best thing for a gas problem!
I was also laughing about the statistical significance. As an economist, I appreciate that sort of thing.

who knows... maybe spins clear more than sinuses.
  5. LOL. It's been a while since my high school science class but isn't weightlessness one of the properties of gas? Similar to a helium know. You have to talk to her otherwise if it's all released, she'll probably not be such a light follow any more.

Every once in a while I'd run into one or two ladies with sweaty palms. It feels like a wet dead fish. And if she has hand lotion on, they get slippery. How do you tell some one like that? I tried to wipe my hand on my jeans a few times during the dance when it got so slippery. Thing is she never wiped her hands on her clothes to dry out.

The hilarious thing is that I had beans and rice at a social last night. They didn't make me gassy, but I got so sleepy from eating too much food! The worst part is that a salsa buddy of mine posted on my myspace page that I should 'lay off the beans and rice before dancing'. LOL (I need to erase that before I get a rep and no one dances with me.):nope:

How do any of you deal with a person that wears too much perfume or cologne..
I thought about saying something to the owner of the studio but have not yet..
I am very senstivie to scents and even get bad migraines from some scents.. I go to dance class to have fun not to lay in bed the next day with a migraine..
As for bad breath i think i'd take out a mint, have one myself and ask if the offending person wants one too.. But sometimes bad breath is not just about the foods we eat. It is about dental, and personal, hygiene.. It can also be caused the stomach problems and they should be checked out by a health professional, doctor or dentist..
I recently had a conversation with a friend of mine about her ulcer and she claims that it gives her gas and sometimes bad breath.. So i think sometimes, for the sake of a couple minutes, that we do have to "suck it up" and dance with that person..

The cologne/perfume thing is definitely something that is appropriate to bring up with the studio owner. As the owner of a business, he or she has the right to dictate that people lay off of wearing strong scents. I know that when I go to certain places, like yoga studios, sometimes they ask you not to wear perfume or cologne, as other patients may be sensitive to strong scents. Similarly, the studio owner could easily set up a sign that asks people to avoid wearing a lot of perfume and cologne, so that all patrons can enjoy dancing.

Great advice NaturalLove!! The "offenders" have not been around lately so it is not a problem right now.. But the next time they are there i will say something..
I personally don't mind a little bit of colongne on the men or perfume on the ladies but there is a small portion of the world that seems to think that more is better!!
Because we switch partners in our group class i usually have to wash dh's shirts to get rid of the smell of the other women... So it works both ways you know?

    "yo, you need deodorant? like...FYI..."

as said by my son to his friend today, after which laughter broke out & his friend rectified the situation. may all adults in the dance world be as candid & stress-free as that. it's a beautiful thing.

I would want to be told, whether BO, bad breath, nails, hair, or anything. I can take it and deal with it. I just can not deal with pettiness.

So... any thoughts on what to do when "stinky" has been politely informed about their undesirable fragrance, but continues to go on stinkin'? This isn't the kind of bad odor that might be associated with a perspiration problem. I suspect a housekeeping issue. The old garbage-type smell permeates all of their clothing.

They've been told about the smell... Came back smelling fresh for a couple of weeks but now... back to old bad habits.

    Tell them again?
