On the second day of Christmas my true love danced with me: -
    Two me-ren-gues
    and a Pa-so Do-o-oble.

(I was dreaming this, I need help).

ROTFL! When you said "hosers" I thought it was a typo for "losers", but thanks to wikipedia I know better now...

We should rewrite the song - who's up for a good Xmas-song-writing game?

    I'll start:

On the first day of Christmas, my true love danced with me:
the waltz that is called Vienn-ese.
On the second day of Christmas, my true love dance with me:
one cha-cha-cha, and the waltz that is called Vienn-ese.

    :)

A/K/A Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas. "The Great White North" was a recurring skit that they used to do on SCTV. They released a comedy album based on the skit in 1982, I think it was. The lyrics to their version of "Twelve Days of Christmas" started something like this:

On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:
    A beer.

On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:
    Two turtle necks,
And a beer. (Interjection: "There should be more there, eh?")

On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:
    Three french toasts,
    Two turtle necks,
    And a beer -- in a tree!

If you find a copy of the album, you have to particularly check out "Peter's Donuts" (anyone who has spent time in Toronto will understand), and a special guest appearance by Geddy "Ten bucks is ten bucks!" Lee... :D

I know Rick Moranis but not Dave Thomas.

    Like their lyrics!

Will try to come up with a verse tomorrow... not right now, evening's coming on where I am, it's dark, cold and frosty and I feel like putting dinner on to cook then curling up on the sofa with a gin and tonic...

On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me
Four quicksteps, after which I died.

Based on our recent thread on the ballroom forum, wouldn't that have to be three cha-cha-chas? ;)

Also, the fifth day needs to be "five gold-level <somethings>". I haven't decided what the something ought to be. Paso doble would be sufficiently smart-aleck, but it doesn't fit the meter. How about "five gold-level jives?"

I like my five west coast swings! :p

    Keeping the meter is paramount!

    What say ye, DFers?
