Our dance school has a good quote as a motto:
"You live to dance to live"
It is my fav because it was the first quote about dancing that I've ever seen and it is soooo true  :D

Swing your partner, dosey-do, now clap your hands... uh-oh, that's all the square dance moves I know... I'll bluff the rest. Slap your partner in the face, Write bad checks all over the place, Flirt with strangers, annoy your spouse, Get a divorce and lose your house, ...uh... dosey-do.
    --Scott Adams, writing as Dogbert

Lesser dancers stumble, better dancers syncopate! --Anonymous

"We are dancing... not kissing... I do not kiss on the dance floor".

"But if a kiss just happens to sneak up on you ... why fight it?"

I'm trying to track down a signature that has been used here. I had paraphrased it to a friend and she loved it, so I want to get the original, but unfortunately I forget whose it is.

    It goes something like:
"You start off learning steps, until you forget the steps and start to dance."

I think it was Chris Stratton's. "YOu learn steps and you learn steps and you learn steps. Then one day you learn how to dance, and that's a totally different thing."
    Or something.

Ooh, I just picked up two new quotes I have to share...

Being a dancer is just an extension of being a human being. ~ Tovaris Wilson, Lyrical Choreographer, So You Think You Can Dance

Even though talent is wonderful, dance is 80% work and 20% talent. ~ Tad Williams, Osceola County School for the Arts

I love the quote by Tad Williams. It's my new inspiration!

the is my email tag: (tacad can attest to this):

"When someone blunders, we say that he makes a misstep. Is it then not clear that all the ills of mankind, all the tragic misfortunes that fill our history books, all the political blunders, all the failures of the great leaders have arisen merely from a lack of skill in dancing." – Moliere

Saw this one in a joke email recently...

"That's how I learned how to dance. Waiting for the bathroom."
    -Bob Hope

and this one wasn't so much a quote as a short exchange I over-heard at Camp Hollywood once:

A guy is hurrying onto the dance floor holding his follow's hand behind him when the band starts up a fast balboa song and I overhear him say matter-of-factly: "...then later we can do the horizontal balboa." to which the girl responds honestly "Horizontal balboa, what's that?" He stops dead in his tracks, turns around and stares at her, but she doesn't get it until I burst out laughing. Then she turned red.

When you take dancing lessons, you learn steps and you learn steps and you learn steps. It can go on for a long time. And then one day, you just learn to dance, and it is so different. --Bill Austin
