Techniques across international and American styles

At the highest levels, there's fairly little difference between Standard and Smooth. Good closed-hold (classic) technique is good closed-hold technique.

What happened on 'DWTS'? Why 'Stars' is 'Dancing' on two left feet

I agree with the article. 16 "celebs" is about 6-10 too many.

    Daughter Dances; Mom's Worries

@Nybz - my husband and our coach would also disagree. And he's an awesome coach

    Daughter Dances; Mom's Worries

The *mother* of one of the coaches had something to say? What? How does that work?

Technically speaking, the original series shirts that looked yellow were actually avocado green. They just looked yellow on screen due to lighting. When this shirt gets blasted with stage lights, it actually looks more yellow than green. 8)

    An answer at last...

Yeah! Although I kinda do want the titanium alloy knee joints. That would be way cool. As it is, though, I already set off metal detectors at the airport with my big toe. The steel pin drives the security folks nuts. The always have to hand search me and my feet make that paddle thing squawk...

There are two treatment options available: Surgery & Painkillers. Guess which one I categorically never want to do, lolz? I refuse to be doped on painkillers indefinitely. It's just a no-freaking-go for me. I've tried nearly every single (if not every single) NSAID for various...

    An answer at last...

I know I've mentioned it a few times in the last few weeks about the issues with my knee and the excruciating pain. Well, today I found out the cause. It's actually a congenital issue called "osteochondroma". 99% of the time there's no issue with it. 1% of the time it's cancerous. I have to...

ROFLZ It would be cool to have a sci-fi ballroom comp. 8)

@TC - that's cool. Because I'd HATE to see a fellow trekkie get DQ'd for geeking out on the dance floor. That would just suck.

    Teaching styles for children

Which reminds me of my kids' teacher, Miss Cindy. With the "babies" she's all sweetness and light and cuddles and love. As the kids get older and are more responsible for their own actions, she doesn't feel the need to spare the "smackdown" as necessary. But at no point does she ever raise her...

    Teaching styles for children

Exactly! All three of my children (ages 3,5 & 7) are in dance classes. My oldest has been in ballet since she was two. This is her 5th year. She is a *handful*. But you know what? Her teacher is able to get her to get with the program without raising a hand to her or humiliating her in front...

    Teaching styles for children

As both a parent, retired ballroom teacher & former preschool teacher, I'm APALLED. NO TEACHER should EVER manhandle a child. I promise you, the first time a teacher ever did that to my child, it would be the LAST time *and* I would most likely file charges. In my state, it's illegal for a...
