    Bunion Surgery

Good news and bad news  They postponed a week due to lack of nurses and I was in a right tizzy having timed it so my so stitches came out and I was fit to fly for a 3 week recovery in Egypt. The good news is Mr Metcalfe took pity on me and is doing it tomorrow evening.

    Running Right Turn in Quickstep

Are we talking about this one here? £11.50 www dot istd dot org/shop/sec-bal.html Just want to be sure this is what we are talking about. I was very lucky today. I was waiting for my prescription from the chemist and I decided to pop into the charity shop next door. Lo and behold there...

    Running Right Turn in Quickstep

Thanks Josh. I only have the Alex Moore Ballroom Dancing and the Victor Sylvestor version. When you say "ISTD Ballroom Technique" do you mean the one they sell at ISTD dot org called "The Ballroom Technique"? Edit: Just found an old pdf version of the Guy Howard book I'd forgotten I had. :)

    Running Right Turn in Quickstep

Nope - still not quite with it. The book says this starts with the man facing diag. to wall, which I took to mean the old line of dance, and ends facing the new LOD. Victor Veyrasset also says start facing diag. to wall and end facing the new LOD. HOWEVER when he demonstrates they actually...

    Running Right Turn in Quickstep

Thanks for that. Makes good sense. First let me correct what I said was on the DVD - I added one too many S Pivot Turn SQQS SSS Running Finish SQQ (as opposed to Alex Moore/Victore Sylvestor QQS(S) There - that looks a bit tidier and helps me understand it. I'm a hoarder so perhaps I...

    Running Right Turn in Quickstep

Hi Guys - I have my bunion op on Tuesday so I'll have to dance in my head for a while. I've been watching the Veyrasset DVD and have a question about the Running Right Turn. Both my books describe it as SQQS SSSQQSS On the DVD they dance SQQS SSSSSQQ Can anyone enlighten me as to the...

    The Dance Bible

I have the set now. I'm not experienced enough to comment on the technicalities or physics. I am going to learn a lot I think but I do find the pace and the Japanese translation intensely annoying and this could well put me off using it as often as I otherwise might.

    Bunion Surgery

I haven't quite decided yet. I would prefer general but it does rather upset my stomach. Having said that, the op I had last November was 5 hours and this is very much shorter so I probably will go for a general.

    Foxtrot Basic Weave

I'm watching Victor and Heathers DVD and see on the demonstration of the basic weave they take 1/2 turn in total but when they demonstrate it in the dance they appear to turn quite a bit more. Is this usual?

    Bunion Surgery

My GP also thought I was crazy and said even if it had been MUCH worse he still wouldn't have recommended it. Luckily I have BUPA cover and I took the view that if what I read was correct, the rate at which if was increasingly bothering me meant I would end up doing it sooner or later - and...

    Bunion Surgery

This is for those of you that have heard of mostly negative experiences with bunion surgery. I know a lot of dancers have problems, more women I think, but it seems almost everyone, including my GP, think bunion surgery is a a nightmare - painful and not very successful with a lengthy...

International Ballroom DVD - Suggestions please

I love the Dancing with Passion set. They aren't as good at laying it out as Victor and Heather but then they have squeezed Bronze Silver and Gold onto one DVD so less time spent on each. I suppose it depends on what you want from the DVDs. I am tending to look up specifics as I need them on...
