how are your lessons going? thread II

Pro is out of town at the moment, so more lessons with New(er) Guy. We're having a coaching together this week and know we want to work on Tango and Foxtrot in it, so that was our priority today. Tango is fun because it's all in the acceptable to good range, so we get to work on making it...

My usually very healthy emergency fund has taken enough of a hit in this past year that I am crossing my fingers that, for example, my 2004 car with 150,000+ miles lasts another year. I've let my teachers know that my plans are not quite as solid as they usually are.

Nice lessons today with New(er) Guy. He and I hadn't danced tango together for a long time and he could tell the progress that I've made. I'm planning on competing with him in May or June, so we went through everything in all four dances, and we were both pleased. Overall, I'm getting much...

    Practice methods.

Overall, sounds good. One very valuable practice tip that I picked up here is to limit the number of repetitions when you are learning something new, particularly if you are having trouble with it. That limits the frustration factor and keeps you from developing coping mechanisms that you...

Releasing and catching weight in Ballroom forward and backward motion

When I commit my wight to the next step too early, it is almost always because of an error in the placement of my various body blocks; I don't have them aligned properly for the situation.
