While I am a competitive person, but I'll gladly concede the "root canal crown" to Cornutt. I''ll just stick with my one root canal. Cornutt - - you and your wallet have my sympathy!

Hey Cornutt! I've got one, too! I have to wait until next Tuesday for my root canal. Just on antibiotics for now. Orajel and tylenol are my friends!

    Happy and/or Random Thoughts #3

My alarm went off this morning as usual and then I realized that it was a holiday today and I could turn it off and go back to sleep! . . . . except I couldn't go back to sleep . . . . so had time for a very leisurely breakfast, an extra cup of coffee.

Dress to buy/rent for new competitor?

I've purchased two reasonably priced used dresses from eDanceMarket. I'm happy with the dresses and with their service. They do also rent dresses. She should check out their website.

    Happy and/or Random Thoughts #3

Had this happen for me recently. I had made my MIL a beaded lariat necklace for Christmas which she loved. She then wanted me to make one for one of her friends as a birthday present - which I did being the good DIL that I am. She wanted to pay me for it but I would only let her pay the cost...

Verry Newbie - Can I start to practice dance at 35 years old? And what style is recommend to start please? :)

I didn't start taking dance lessons until the age of 58 so go for it! I started private lessons in Smooth and Rhythm but then decided I wanted to focus on Smooth. Focusing on the one style in my private lessons allowed my skills to progress much faster. I started competing in ProAm in...

    Choosing a style; specialization; FOMO

I didn't start dancing until age 58. I started in Smooth and Rhythm but then decided similar to FF that I needed to focus on one style. My choice was Smooth. I do take group lessons in Rhythm and will dance Rhythm socially but private lessons and comps are focused on Smooth

What gliter eye shadow can you suggest me to buy?

I like Urban Decay's eyeshadows . . . and according to their website, they ship internationally to 225 countries! I love their setting spray also . . .really keeps your makeup in one place even during a day of competitions.

    exposing too much when dancing

I once helped a fellow competitor whose body suit had come unsnapped only to find out when I leaned down to see what I was doing that she had nothing on under the body suit. Certainly wasn't expecting to see that - and hope that the photographer hadn't got any revealing photos!

What I Learned At My Last Comp

Was at only my second comp last week which was only about an hour from my home. All of my heats were Sunday afternoon so my plan was to do my hair and makeup at home then drive over to the venue late morning. I wear glasses (and can no longer tolerate contacts) so I'm doing my makeup with my...

Indy Lady - I agree with the sambas passing as rumbas. Also was surprised that there was "Latin" music by the Rolling Stones and the Eagles!

    Magnetic eyelashes?

I've wondered too. When I first saw them advertised on the internet, they were rather pricey. Recently saw them on the Ulta site at a more reasonable price which might make them a possibility. As much fun as the "regular" false eyelashes are to get on I'm thinking that the magnetic ones...

Do you play a musical instrument?

I started out as a music major in college. I played oboe, English horn, flute and piano. Interesting that there are fellow oboists here! I think that it has helped with dancing as I can easily identify the time signature of the music playing., what dance would be appropriate for the music and...
