Tweeting from MIT Open

Is anybody interested in providing Twitter coverage from MIT Open?

If we can get someone (or several someones) tweeting about their experiences, it would be a lot of fun to follow.

They could use the #MIT2011 hashtag

We've closed registration for the Beginner standard events; as we're at/over the registration limit for those events. Beginner latin is also close, but we have a bit more flexibility on Sunday than Saturday.

We'll also be maintaining a waiting list for people interested in taking any spots that open up due to couples dropping or TBA's pairing up. At the close or regular registration we'll be strongly encouraging TBAs to pair up to help get more couples off the waiting list into the event.

If you need to make changes to beginner standard registration you'll need to email me (email is plastered all over the registration site).

All on-line changes to beginner events has been closed. You can still make changes by emailing the address listed on the competition website. We're still accepting registrations for beginner smooth and rhythm, but not for much longer. The international styles have started a waitlist that we'll contact as spaces open up in those events.

If you're registered TBA for beginner events, please, please try to find another TBA partner to pair up with. This will free up a space for a couple on the wait list and make a lot of people much happier. Once you find someone to pair up with, please email the address listed on the website (ie me, but please don't PM me here, I'm trying to keep all requests in a single email inbox so I can honor the earliest requests first in a simple way.)

We're working on getting the information concerning the waitlist up on our website soon, but here's the rough outline:

Email the address listed at the registration site to be added to the wait list for Beginner Standard and Latin (and soon Beginner Rhythm/Smooth, and all Intermediate).

Before the close of regular registration:
1) Whenever all the events in one level/style combination that a person is waiting on have an opening, I'll email the couple asking if they still want to claim their spot in those events. The couple with have 24 hours to claim the spot, before I offer it to the next couple.

2) At the close of regular registration, I'll go down the list offering any open spots in individual dances that the couple is waiting on. Same 24 hour response will apply.

Our goal is to minimize the number of times we need to ask a couple if they still want a spot once its available.

Again, we strongly encourage all TBA dancers to please, please try to find a partner -- look up people on Facebook, ask friend-competitors at other schools for leads, etc.
