General registration will be open until March 8. Registration after March 8 will incur a late fee. The competition will be held on March 17 and 18 on the MIT campus in Cambridge, MA.
The MIT Open is one of the largest collegiate competitions in the nation, attracting hundreds of top competitors from all across the country. We offer all 19 dances for all levels above Newcomer. This year, we are pleased to be able to offer larger cash prizes for Open events, as well as a new schedule to showcase the best of the Open, Pre-Championship, and Championship dancers. Check out ballroom.mit.edu/comp for more information. We hope to see you there!
We're excited to announce both a showcase and lecture by World Professional Ten Dance Champions, Gherman Mustuc & Iveta Lukosiute (SYTYCD!). The show will take place at 8:15pm on Saturday, prior to the open amateur finals for all four styles.
We've reached our registration cap for Beginner Standard events so those events have been closed. I expect to need to close several other events in the near future, likely tomorrow night -- all of Beginner, Intermediate, and most of Advanced, along with International Pre-Championship could hit their limits.
If you're team waits til the last minute to register, you might be shut out.
When events are closed, you can email the registrar to be placed on a waiting list. The waiting list is filled on a first come first served basis as people drop, or TBAs pair up.
If you are registered for a closed event, please email the registrar if you need to make ANY changes. If you update your registration yourself, you'll end up removing yourself from any closed event.
