Christmas Without Salsa?

From the Southern Illinoisan:
"People dance in every house," Gloria said. "Salsa and merengue dancing -- all night long."

"The whole city of Tegucigalpa (the capital city of Honduras) is smoking from all the firecrackers," Rene said, referring to a custom of lighting firecrackers on Christmas day.

"I thought it would be more similar here," Rene said. In spite of the inescapable images of Santa Claus and the carols mix playing in nearly every store, Rene and Gloria said the Christmas spirit -- the true Christmas spirit -- seems to be lacking in America.

It looks like they have taken matters into their own hands. Isn't it wonderful the way dance is shared among cultures?
