National Ballroom Dance Week is 9/19-28. Hollywood Ballroom always has a series of programs, which this year is topped by the appearance of the Headliners. See Maryland, 9/20, for details. Check for programs in your area.


CONTINUING EVENTS: (Strongly recommend calling first if there is the slightest idea the event does not occur with the regularity of clockwork).

Cancellations: (1) Dancing Made Easy in Westminster, MD, has postponed further Sunday tea dances until the Fall. (2) Lancaster, PA, Dance Club has been canceled (was held in the Keller Inn). (3) USABDA, Upper Shenandoah Valley chapter ceased to exist after its final dance on 6/28. Served Harpers Ferry, WV, and Hagerstown, MD.

Connecticut: Ballroom dancing every Thurs at the Pinecrest Country Club, Shelton. Lsn at 7 PM, dance til 11:30 PM. Full hot buffet dinner, mixers, line dance, breakfast at 10 PM. $13 PP. Surely a lot for your money.

Florida: Thursday Scottish Country dancing in the Sarasota Adult Rec Ctr, 7:30-10 PM. No partner necessary. Wear soft-soled shoes. $3.50. Info at 941-761-1221. USABDA: We tried to expand our USABDA listing by looking at the nat'l website and checking on chapters in the Virginia area. The national list did not have full info so we sent an email requesting dance info to Peninsula (Hampton, Newport New VA), Roanoke, VA, Tidewater (Norfolk, Virginia Beach), and Williamsburg, VA, chapters. Only one responded and then did not include all the info required for our newsletter. Che sera sera! Audrey Wood remains the chief instructor. Cocktail and after-dinner dancing are complimentary. The Addison Mizner, built in 1928, and the Spanish Lounge will be conserved in the new structure.
