Eye contact in lindy hop?

First off, welcome to DF.

I've only had a couple classes where the teachers used the term Lindy Hop, but have done lots of swing. While there are obviously lots of exceptions, I'd have to say that looking at your partner when you are facing each other is a pretty good idea. They are your partner, after all.

Basically yes, eye contact is fine and normal, completely avoiding eye contact would be weird.

However also constantly staring into someone's eyes with deep eye contact is also weird. It's in many ways similar to having a conversation with someone, you look at them and make eye contact but you're not stuck staring at them constantly.

Hope that helps and have fun in your class!

This. Look at them, but don't stare or be creepy about it. You can also look sort of at, but past them, like they're in soft focus, so you can see them but you're not staring them down.

Yes to everything said so far. You'll also want to scan your immediate surroundings while you dance so that you don't bump into other people, so that will help with regulating the amount of eye contact.
