flat lower back during x-over breaks?

I've been working recently on making sure that my power back as flat during latins. This seems to be going ok for standing still, but it goes when I try to do a x-over break/new yorker.

Comments anyone? Do you guys try to keep your power back flat? I notice that mine almost inevitably arches.

Is it genuinely arched or does it just appear so due to the stretch from your standing leg to your back hip? Opposition stretching (a BIG thing in Latin) as opposed to settling/compression helps to avoid the arched-back problem. I've noticed a lot of "illusion" issues in all dances, where you do something because you think it looks like that, but the correct way to achieve it is completely different. But that's a whole 'nother thread ;)
