gym training

Hi,
I dance latin styles (cha, rumba etc.).
To get stamina I do cardio in the gym.

I was wondering if there are weight workouts specifically for dancers.
Of course, it's all about doing squats, lunges etc.
However, I was wondering if there are specific plans I can download from a website

Cheers
Fran

Any exercise that helps foot pull and push is great for standard. Weighted step ups, broad jumps, squats, and lunges are good. If your legs are strong, try scissor lunges.

Not so surprising, upper back strength is excellent for waltz. Assisted pull ups, lat pull downs, and high rows are beneficial.

Exercises that test quickness and speed are great for Latin. Core work is excellent.

If you are a gym member, consult a personal trainer. They can help you design specific workouts for your dancing needs.

I find explosive compound movements help. Especially since I've been training to add more power and speed into my lines. (:

Hello.
I was an International Latin dancer and I found very helpfull the extra gym work.
If you are a man you can do some weights (not so much if you are a women).
Cardio is good however don't forget that you dance for 1.30min so you have to do sprints for that periode.
Another thing. On the week before the competition just use light weights and quick moovements (lifts, etc). Don't practice on the day before.
All the best!
