International Steps/American Style

Does anyone know if it's permissible to dance a natural spin turn in bronze American waltz?

For an NDCA-sanctioned comp, absolutely. Not sure about other competitive events.

I teach the spin turn very soon to new students. It gets them swinging, teaches them about natural turns, and is a great learning tool, particularly for teaching lowering with feet apart--and unlike so much of the American syllabi for various organizations, it's not a "throwaway" step that the student will never use again. The alternative to a follow for 1-3 of a natural turn is 4-6 of a natural instead of the spin turn finish, which is certainly fine for a short time for learning purposes, but it has little competitive value in almost all situations.

Highly, highly recommend using it, but of course, for a competitive situation, like anything else, don't do it if you can't dance it reasonably well.
