I'm debating this one. I need to stop driving so much since I need to save some money. But that would mean dancing locally. Oy! The options are few
and not attractive at all. :?
can't you carpool to save expences?

Absolutely! We do that here to save cash(parking, gas AND road tolls are sky-high!) and also to have a designated driver. Parking is a hassle in the cities here so why take 4 cars when you can carpool?

I'm in the same situation except no dancing here that I'm aware of. Nearest dancing is 2 hours away; 3 1/2 hours for the better dancing.

awesome dance weekend...just have to share....first of all the best week of privates that I have had in 6-8 weeks...most of which have been hell since my first comp busy learning all new stuff for the next one...so friday I had a bolero class and before it was practicing and a great many people were watching and complimenting me...then at the group bolero lesson all of the men seemed so pleased and grateful to dance with me..like they had just smoked a fine cigar...and I do smooth and standard so I felt really good about how that went and how I held myself during that lesson...then had another awesome private (third in a row w/ my instructor on saturday/today) in spite of being kind of under the weather...practiced tonight in the garage and have a showcase tomorrow where we are just doing our comp routines for practice...very psyched

it also doesn't make sense to actually drive 4 cars. We're probably gonna ride down to switzerland together, (4 of our club), to save money, but also- it's way more fun going with friends together, than meeting them at the dance place. I did go alone to some workshops, and it was really boring. I'm really looking forward to this one though :D

I guess I could. There used to be only one venue here that did ballroom but there was no reason for me to dance there. (The skill level was -2. And no cute women.) So I got used to driving to LA. So I didn't know any dancers here. But recently a group that had focused exclusively on salsa is beginning to expand it's repetoire a bit. At least including hustle and West Coast Swing (neither of which I dance  ). But I could check out their dances and maybe get to know some people.

 Ouch! Even though there's not much here dancing is only an hour or so away. I've thought every once in a while about all the people who post on this forum who are in your situation. Wow! :? And I'm seriously thinking of moving closer to dancing.

Studio ballroom social tonight, but I think I'm going to forego the latin club afterward tonight, because it's been a long week and I'm tired. I might go to the club tomorrow night and do a bit of social dancing on Sunday too. It's kinda up in the air.

Tonight I'm making lasagna, recuperating from last night's dance, and resting up for Day fo Dance tomorrow in Portland  Ah, Day of Dance followed by the Norse Hall swing dance - my last foray into the scene before I leave for the UK on Monday! Yippee!!

Made my first attempt to see what if any dancing was in my new locale last night. I drove to the casino just south of here that has a nightclub known as the Timbers. Before coming here I had been told that some WCS dancers go there, but didn't see any there last night. Just people doing very basic 2 step or an imitation; some swing, but not WCS. :(

Otherwise, the club is very nice and the band was quite good. 8)

Oh well, I'm driving to Phoenix later today for some WCS tonight and tomorrow night. :D

I went dancing yesterday night and had fun. Danced with mostly beginners, and the one regular - Ever since she mentioned to me that the one person who dances with her does not come to the dances much anymore. My guess? Her physique as she is a very large lady! :x Why I never danced with her before? Well...just never got down to it like others...Yesterday night a few told me that they have seen me dancing so I told them to ask me nect tiem!! Drives me crazy they don't ask when I tell them too! - ok getting off-topic here. Great night dancing. Claimed my spot near the open door and two fans. Never broke into a sweat while all those on the dance floor were melting away. 8)
