Made my first attempt to see what if any dancing was in my new locale last night. I drove to the casino just south of here that has a nightclub known as the Timbers. Before coming here I had been told that some WCS dancers go there, but didn't see any there last night. Just people doing very basic 2 step or an imitation; some swing, but not WCS. :(

Otherwise, the club is very nice and the band was quite good. 8)

Oh well, I'm driving to Phoenix later today for some WCS tonight and tomorrow night. :D
Cool spitfire. Perhaps next time you can arrange to meet some people at the casino as the band is good? Good luck with tonight - Saturday. 8)

Hmmm ... it's Friday again. Haven't decide if I'm going dancing this weekend or not. Can't tommorrow night cause I'll be visiting with my sister for some crop harvesting and dinner. Perhaps I'll go dancing tonight, but I'm tired and got lot's of other things to do.

Or maybe I'll just procrastinate on those things and go dancing anyway. ;)

I think we're finally "in the loop"- two folks from our group classes have finally came around to chatting and sitting with us whenever we bump into one another at restaurants (aww, how sweet, our first couple-friendses!). Well, we exchanged cells, and are looking to meet up at tonight's bbq/music street fest and then head over to another dance party at another school.

I'm going to look rolypoly but quite tzujing, I think. I have a stretchy, capped-sleeve metallic top, dancypants (the flarey, swirly, wide-leg kind), and some silver shoes. Bitchin'!

Don't know what to do with the hair. It's long, wavy, in the way, and I can sit on it or get it tangled in someone's watch. Guess I'll braid it.

Some east coast for me tonight and then tomorrow there is a dance on the riverfront. Where is that topic on what kind of dancing shoes work best on concrete? I do wear my dance sneakers usually at these kind of events, not the greatest footwork but I love dancing outside. Hope there is no rain.
Wish it was 5:00 already.

The DW and I have a private ballroom lesson tonight (don't know which dances are on the agenda), followed by a group lesson in cha cha and salsa. Will be our first salsa experience!

Do your feet a favor and stick with the dance sneakers. Here's hoping the weather holds up for you. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever been to a dance that was outdoors...

I am sure the outdoor dancing isn't for the serious dancing crowd, I can't imagine anyone doing a fancy waltz or quick step down the concrete patio. But for east and west coast, where it is the fun not the fancy moves that count, you ought to try it.

How about in the grass of a state park? The DW and I were hiking last weekend and came upon a group of folk musicians warming up for a performance they would play later. They played a waltz, so we did! Right there in our hiking boots!

Good thing, BTW, I had the extra ankle support, because during one part, my foot found a small depression in the ground. Fortunately, I did not twist my ankle.

Africana what are you going to dance if it isn't salsa?

No dancing tonight for me. Got to run errands, do grocery shopping and fill out my Indian visa application to mail tomorrow.

Now tomorrow I have a couple ballroom dance workshops in smal group setting with some coaches, followed by a 50th birthday party, plus a Latin danec from about 9-1. :)

Weee, what fun! The streetfest was WAY too crowded to safely dance, so we went to another studio's dance party. Most of the people were a little standoffish, but some were really sweet. ILL Divo got up and danced several cha-chas, one tango (we killed it, I know we did, but it was fun, LOL), and several waltzes. I actually got him to FoxStumble around, and it was actually not so painful.

Hope to dance more tomorrow night at our streetfest again. :D
