It's Friday ... Are You Going Dancing?

Nope. Basketball game tonight, football game tomorrow, early Thanksgiving dinner Sunday. Looks like it'll be a danceless weekend except for my basement practice area.

I try to see movies that I am interested in the very first night that they come out at the cinema. Since this is usually a Friday, that often rules out dancing for me on Fridays...

Unfortunately, there will be no dancing tonight due to an event taking place tomorrow known as the Summer Expo to be held at a local resort, but I'll be in Flagstaff, Arizona tomorrow evening for the annual Misummer Night's Ball. This is a great dance that includes a catered dinner before the dancing begins. This will be followed up by a house party where there is a dance floor so lots and lots of dancing; it's good enough for me to justify a four hour drive, plus I will visit a friend and relatives elsewhere later.

This just blows my mind. I have driven through and stayed in Flag so many times, but it never struck me as the kind of town that would have good dancing. Spouse is on my case to go back to the southwest; perhaps next summer I'll bribe him: I'll take him to Arizona and make plans to attend the Midsummer Night's Ball in Flagstaff! It's a long drive just to go dancing, though.;)

Yes, there is dancing in Flag. There is a ballroom dance held once a month on the third Saturday which I've always enjoyed; except there's no dance in June, July and August. The facility has no AC. The MSNB is Usadance sponsored and is held in an auditorium on the NAU campus. There's some other things there too, but I haven't been to any of them.

Just got back from a wonderful night at the Country Western Social Club dance in Atlanta, which I am happy to report is now TWICE a month! :D

My two-step is gradually improving and I'm actually starting to really enjoy West Coast Swing in a way I never did before. It helps that I had MANY wonderful and encouraging partners, got lots of compliments on my timing and rhythm, and my leading too. Sure made for a fun night, especially the last Cha-Cha of the night with an amazing partner!

We were going to try a new social tonight, but just completed a 16 mile bike ride after several weeks off, so I think we'll just be doing the monthly tea dance tomorrow instead. Gotta admit my knees are a little wobbly right now...

WCS tonight to live music. Local club president has his own band and will be performing at one of the casinos in the lounge free of cover charge. Tomorrow night will feature a WCS - ice cream social as a sub for the 4th Saturday dance which will not be held this month since the host is out of town for an event.
