Loving my new phone!

I don't normally do this, but I have had such a good experience switching to T-mobile, I want to share. My last bill with Verizon for two phones was $540 for two months. We had international calling on one phone but not the other, and I accidentally called on the wrong phone. Even without that our bill was about $230/month. I got only 8 GB total for both phones. Calling Canada was even extra, and cost me $30 for one call that lasted over an hour.

So I heard about how T-mobile will pay off your early termination, so you can move over right away. Let me just list some of the reasons I am so much happier now with T-mobile!
  • We got the new Nexus 6 and Note 4, and are paying less than Verizon
  • Went from $230+/month to less than $190 (could be less if we got less expensive phones which we did with Verizon last time)
  • We have UNLIMITED data, text and calling
  • The speeds are faster than Verizon in virtually all major cities. I can stream 4k (super HD) movies through my phone.
  • I got a $30 Chromecast stick, and I'm streaming movies and music through my TV
  • I got 6 free months of Google Play Music where I can listed to ALL music for free, and download anything to my phone for free. After that it would be $10/month
  • T-mobile does HD wifi calling, so I can call anywhere in the World for free so long as I am using Wifi (had to get this added to my plan, but it is free).
  • The download and upload speeds are comparable to my cable provider (20 mb/s down and 15 mb/s up) I may go get the T-mobile router as well ($25).
  • When you call customer service (611), you can just say Representative and talk right away to a person. If they are a little busy, you have the option to have them call you back without losing your place in line.
So this turned out to be a GREAT Christmas present to ourselves that saved us money too. If anyone is interested in what we signed up for.

You've listed all and then some of my reasons for switching to T-Mobile. It's not the BEST coverage here yet, but I'm sticking it out, because I pay $30 a month for unlimited data/text, and 100 minutes (I'm on the Wal-Mart ghetto plan, because I use maybe ten or twenty minutes a month of my minutes, but like literally 15 gig a month data), and no BS. I left $90/month AT&T supposedly unlimited (grandfathered in) but I suddenly started getting "don't do this" or "we've noticed that" texts about data, domestic data roaming, and other "hint hint, switch to this other plan and we won't pester you" crap.

I saved more money by buying a refurb LG G Pro on Amazon, and haven't looked back. The only thing I don't like is that sometimes T-Mobile gets a little silly (maybe it's just area coverage, too) about people who send a text message to more than one recipient, and their phone defaults it to "group into MMS". Dunno if that's just me or not.

But yes, rocking the lurid magenta here, too.

Had T-Mo for years - very happy. Switched to ATT to get company discount - very unhappy. Switched back to Pink ASAP.
Hopefully Deutsche Telecom will now keep the company and we won't have to sweat any Framily Plan (or other Bozoid) takeovers.

I don't think I mentioned the Jump plan with T-mobile either. Basically in 11 months, I can trade in my old phone, and get a new one for no extra charge (but have to start a new $25-30/month plan rather than pay off the old one).

Um, I know this is basically your website to do with as you wish, but doesn't this entire thread basically fall afoul of Guideline #7?

Ugh, T-Mo is great. UNTIL you find out you're under contract despite being told when you signed up that you weren't. Until you find out terms that were NOT anywhere until you try to change something. (At one point, their website actually had a HUGE box talking about how the "no contract" plan actually had a contract.)

I'm a girl that reads the fine print. This was blatant bait and switch and changing things without telling the customer. And then the LIES!!! Me: Ok, so how long am I under this contract I didn't agree to? Them: 6 months. Me SEVEN MONTHS LATER: I want to cancel. Them: Well you'll have to pay an early termination fee.
And what's your recourse? Expensive binding arbitration with arbitrators picked by them.

Not saying any other telecommunication companies are any better. Just be warned that if you ever decide to leave T-Mo, it will be a nightmare.

possibly, if the link is where I am selling something. If someone is just recommending something they like such as dance shoes or a dress company we do have a precedent. I am not above being moderated. ;)

I am not on a contract with t mobile.I think they are much better now.I also have a phone that is unlocked and I can take it to another carrier.

I didn't think I was on contract either. This was only a bit over a year ago. I paid full price for two phones and STILL was under contract, despite being on their no-contract plan. They sit on a throne of lies!

I'm not sure about an existing contract, but they did away with contracts in 2014 and are now the fastest growing.

We shall have to agree to disagree. I can't get behind a company that screws over their existing customers transferring over to a new model.

The thought occurs that you could travel with it and use it with hotel TVs (instead of expensive in-room PPV).

I understand you, and I think there is no shortage of people that report getting screwed by Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and the rest. In my case, I got screwed by Verizon. I believe in being an educated, but agile, consumer. I do have a Plan B should T-Mobile not work. I have in my possession 4 valuable phones, and I could sell them and be at a minimal loss, and start over with another company. Also soon T-mobile will have paid off my Verizon early termination fees, meaning I could go right back to Verizon with the phone I still own, but go onto a month to month plan. Probably not going to happen, but I do believe planning ahead.

Sorry, I didn't understand your point/question.

Oh, I see. I meant that comment to follow up the last bullet point in the section I quoted. However, the new quote mechanism hides quote content after the first few bytes.

Chromecast would, I suppose, be fun not only on your TV but on hotel TVs. It's small enough to pack easily. Probably airline fees are not yet so pernicious as to impose additional cost for carrying one aboard. HDMI inputs are often accessible on hotel TVs.

Ah, yes. I have found the Chromecast to be great too. I can pretty much do the same thing with my laptop (actually more), but the Chromecast is more convenient, and works well with phones too.
