Pain in the foot

New Member
Hi there,
Recently, I am experiencing deep pain in the instep of the foot. I am not able to do practice. What might it be? I need a solution for the pain.
If there wasn't an injury or specific event that caused it, you might want to look into some sort of massage therapy.

I highly recommend this book for trigger points - I use it all the time to get at random pains that pop up. You can find it on Amazon.
The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook - Clair Davies

This is a decent reference website too - not a full explanation, but if you don't want to buy the book it's a good start.

When I dance a lot everything in my feet aches and can shoot up my leg. In addition to regular strengthening exercises, I like to roll out the muscles in my feet with a lacrosse and/or golf ball. It helps.
Good podiatrist, one recommended by other dancers if possible. There are also other treatments for plantar fasciitis if that is what it turns out to be. Graston technique, for example (painful, but effective).
My chiropractor has just recently introduced me to Graston for my wrist and elbow and yikes does it hurt! It does help though!!
The MELT method for myofascial release makes balls specifically for hands and feet. Used to get plantar fasciitis with some regularity, even before I started to dance, but have not had it in years since using MELT balls almost daily. Definitely also recommend seeing a podiatrist.

Or just see your regular primary care doc who should be able to point you in the right direction...
You have to see the PC for a referral unless you're in a very weird health system. But most are not going to be able to provide any specialized foot care (and if responsible, won't recommend any sort of stretching or non-medical care before they know what's really wrong via x-rays and a specialist. It wouldn't be good if the doctor used a visual exam to diagnose a tendon strain when it's a stress fracture.)
