Recommendations needed!

Hey all! First thread! :)

I need your help. I want to buy new latin shoes (lady's) and I don't know which brand to get. I want flexibility and shoes that keep their shape longer.

Dance Natural, Supadance, International, Aida, Freed of London.... which brand do you recommend?

Shoes are a really personal thing.... otherwise there would be one brand that fits everyone perfectly. IME Dance Naturals are very flexible, but other brands also produce special "super-flex" soles as well. And one person might tell you Brand X holds up beautifully, while another destroys the same pair in a month. Give us some more details about your feet and any dancing issues and we might be able to help narrow it down a bit for you.

I recommend that you need to try them on and see what fits your foot the best. Personally for latin shoes, I have had the best luck with Dance Naturals. But you won't know until you try them on.

Hi NDBT! We have so many shoe threads, I'm thinking everybody may be "shoed out". *grin* [edit - okay well maybe not 3 people beat me to this post!]

Almost all the brands of latin shoes I have worn have at least one model with flexibility in the forefoot (off the top of my head Supadance, International, and Ray Rose). But I'm unsure what you mean by shoes that keep their shape longer. It would seem that by definition flexibility in the forefoot would mean that the shoe is molding to your foot, and therefore not "keeping it's shape". Do you mean the rest of the shoe keeps it's shape? And, what would you consider the time period "longer"?

First response from And! Thank you :) Yes you're right. Well, I just want shoes that are very flexible and holds its shape better. Those are the only two big issues that I've had with my previous pair. I don't really know about the other brands out there and thought maybe I could get few thoughts or experiences.

Yup! I did receive advice on getting them a 1/2 size smaller but it was too tight.

Depending on how tight they were, they may have been okay after the break in stage. However, from my experience, the 1/2 size smaller usually pertains to the getting the length of the shoe "correct" for latin.

Hey! haha, yea I did look & post on another thread about dance shoes but I thought a new thread would create more attention. Thus, more responses! My shoes fit too loose only after 4 months of dancing in them. 5 lessons per week so, 3 hours 45 mins /week. Too early for these shoes to stretch out, right?

I think you have to either suffer in the beginning (too tight) or add some padding later on. The ball-of-foot cushions generally take up just enough space to make the shoes feel tighter. Plus the superflex soles generally lack in cushioning anyway. Your feet will thank you :p. The other alternative is to buy shoes that allow for adjustments, such as:

Thanks and! I would try on various of pairs but I have to order them online since none of the stores here carry a wide range of latin shoes.... But again, thanks for the advice!

I personally like Dance Naturals but like what one poster said, it's definitely a personal thing. I can never wear Internationals but others swear by them. Best advice is to try out different brands. That's what I did before eventually decided on Dance Naturals. It keeps the toes in ( you know how some styles would make your toes stick out?) and most importantly, the heel placement is very ideal so it's easier to balance.
