Silly things non-dancers say

watching DWTS with the sound off is an enlightening experience. Many times you will have no idea at all what dance they may be doing, and many times with the sound on they are trying so hard to match the dance to the obviously wrong music that it looks similar to the situation you are describing.
Honestly, the same thing can happen with Open Smooth, too....

Not a non-dancer, but new student after last evening's party: "That waltz you did was amazing."

Thanks, that was a bolero.
So there's a brand new instructor trainee who was around during yesterday's lesson (working on the same bolero choreography). At party that evening: "You were dancing tango, right?"

Hmmm, now I'm starting to wonder if the problem is with my bolero.

I've been taking a dance-based fitness class (not Zumba). It involves learning 8 counts of choreo, so we do the same sequences many times in a row. (sidenote... I think we're way overdue to move on to the next "routine"). There is a move that the instructor keeps calling "paso doble", but I think it's actually a pas de bourree.
