Some of my favourite swing clips

Ive not added one in a while. Here's Adamo and Vicci being amazing with a show case at the London swing festival. They came in 3rd which is pretty cool for a blues showcase at a mostly lindy event (the showcases aren't restricted to just lindy by the rules obviously but there is always a bias for that since that's the focus of the event)

I'm sure the Frankie 100 Hellzapoppin Contest has made the rounds, but if not, here it is. The ending is perhaps my favorite, for non-Lindy reasons.

I was at a workshop where the DecaVitas (the female couple) taught, and when I told them how much I loved their performances in the contest, they mentioned that they thought they were just going to do 8 swingouts for the last part of the contest, and so they put their all into the swingouts. Of course, when it turned out to be a full song, they were beyond tired. See also their interview here.

An absolutely lovely slow or medium tempo lindy clip. So much of the really world class lindy hoppers on video is all faster tempos but I really love dancing the slower ones and it's nice to see a really good clip of it.

The first time I watched this, it just had so much stuff that I hadn't seen in Lindy before. Good Lindy hoppers really do have very different styles, if it seems a bit homogenous sometimes it's just because a few pros consistently draw most of the attention.

I finally went and uploaded one of my favourite balboa clips. I filmed this at last years Edinburgh Balboa Weekend. Mickey and Kelly doing a social dance teacher demonstration. The mood in the room was great and the live band did a really good job.

I love how playful they are and Kelly messing around with footwork is just fun to watch.

I think I may have posted this one before but just the most musical aerials ever. So clean and in time, and an awesome routine

Ok Im not entirely neutral on this one, it's from an event I organised, so I can tell you that Mickey and Kelly got a roughly 15minute notice of me asking them to do a social demonstration dance before they then did it, and it's to the live band to a song that was selected by them ahead of time but they'd never heard the band play it before (or that specific band before that evening)

Band is the awesome Rose Room, if you're in Scotland and have the chance to hear them play do, great vocalists and violinist.

Anyway the playfulness and the musicality in the clip is just brilliant, I can't get over Kelly's footwork, social balboa at the highest level.

Max Pitruzzella showing he's a pretty good follow. I also like that it's a nice and chilled out dance.

It's a facebook embed, just clicking on the picture should make it play

The boston tea party has just been and gone so there's a new batch of crossover invitational jack and jill videos on youtube. I really love seeing the lindy and west coast pros dancing with each other, shows both how similar but also the differences in the dances.

It's sort of amusing that now it's a tradition for the west coast follows to dress up "lindy" for the comp and vice versa. The guys have joined in with it somewhat as well
