Typically, how long does it take for a comp to post results?

Meaning, how long does it take for them to post results and pictures on their Web site?

It is my impression that this is generally done within a few days of the competition's end. Is this true?

I ask because I am taking particular interest in one [UNNAMED] competition. I heard that the comp was miserably attended (probably due to the organizer's most disharmonious conduct as of late) and I wonder if the results are not being posted because the number of names would obviously reflect the embarrassingly poor attendance.

It might seem that I am being nosey or stirring the pot when asking this question, but I am NOT naming names (though some here can probably guess) and the past actions of this person(s) affect me directly and the ones I love directly.

I am hoping that, if attendance WERE poor, it would knock some sense into certain people and cause them to stop hurting so many dancers and professionals, not to mention their own reputation.

I hope a lot. :P

Depends on the size. Florida superstars results were up 2 days after it ended (ended on Saturday, results were up on Monday). Ohio starball results took a while.

I wouldn't jump to nefarious conclusions.

There are ALL KINDS of non-devious reasons why it takes a while for results to get up (if ever).

In many cases the organizer is either not the Scrutineer, or is not that net-savvy, and so getting the output files from the scrutineering system and and uploading them are not something that can be done quickly by them.

Do you know what system was used to manage and scrutineer the competition? If it were all done by hand, as some comps still are, then you might never see the results online because it would involve someone typing them all in!

At one of the comps I helped to organize and run last year, it took us over a month to get the results on line? Why? First we had computer security issues related to a forgotten password, and we couldn't upload the files to the server until the person running the server got back from running a different (and huge) comp on the other side of the country. Then it was Thanksgiving. Then the person who had the marks on their computer had a death in the family and the last thing I wanted to do was ride them about uploading the marks. Then when we tried to upload the marks we got a message that the file was corrupted. Then the person with the server finally got a chance to look at it and everything was fine. But it took a month.

It's not always that the organizers are being sneaky, sometimes stuff just happens. Have you tried contacting them and asking nicely as to if and when the results will be posted?

I know I try to promise within 24 hours of events I scrutineer. I don't think I've missed that yet, though I probably will this weekend as I'm working two competitions and won't have internet access until I return home, so Binghamton's will be closer to 48 hours.

I'd say typically 72 hours is the magic window -- if they aren't posted within the first three days, they probably won't be... or if they are its often out of the competitors minds anyways. Also the inertia of the scrutineer/organize becomes harder to overcome to do the work as time goes on.... So even though we're exhausted after working/running a competition, doing it immediately is most likely to happen....

Most comps work really hard to get comp results up, but we've also experienced the occasional comp which takes a month or more to post the results - good comps, reputable comps, nothing sinister.
