To house of Ex, to evaluate/pack up stuff to sell
Treat resulting stress levels with single malt
Leave for show in Allentown, PA; set up there, sell a small amount of stuff Friday, zero Saturday, and everything in one swoop, Sunday; color me happy
Show is interesting in that many people I never thought I'd see again are in my line of sight, and stop to chat, and seem to think I'm back on the circuit; noooooot so much
Also color me grateful for the generosity and kindness of a former colleague who made the show and the sales easy for me
Stop on way home for dinner and a drink
today:teach a fitness class...mutually gentle but persistent butting of heads with co-worker....no lives lost, but tiring....fortunately, get to go home to do charting ....trip to bank and post office, continued work from home....and housework....dh and dtr are scheduled to bake cookies tonight so I made dinner and got in an out of tub before they get here...dtr is also roping me into some sort of online shopping party tonight....why do women do this to each other?
Lol, Fas, my DD, both of them, have done that very same thing to me, ugh.
Finish going through all the closets, storage area and garage, prepping for yard sale.
Take DH to Tuesday Morning store and he thoroughly enjoys the vast variety of items, we pick up several and finish our small gift shopping for DS future in-laws.
Hit up the Donut Man across the street, darn too early for those strawberry donuts, but hey, they have Apple!
Take GS#2 to Karate where he is testing for a new color belt, as we watch, oh MY Goodness, he is really good at this! Who knew?!
DS calls, then Texas DD saying her debit card acct has been hacked and all,the $$ are gone, yikes! Second time in 2 years and of course, both have been during the holiday season. She finally makes decisions to move accts to different institution.
Visit neighbor whose bathroom remodel, that has waited 28 years for this, is just about done and bounces fixture ideas off of us, so happy for them both.
hit the hay, this time without humidifier running, ahhhhh silence.
Bank, to cash check for proceeds from weekend
To Ex, to distribute $; he is asleep, apparently, so I leave the $ where he will definitely find it, and hightail it outta there
Group class, which last week gave me vertigo, but this week, things are better
Lesson; rhumba and then bolero, and oh, don't I love bolero; also, who is this technique geek standing around in my shoes? what happened to Little Miss I Just WAnna Dance?
Evening group class, in which much fun is had; I have a ball leading beginners, but also am learning oodles
Lesson, in which Magic Happens
Get home just in time to leave for theater
Dinner at father's favorite diner on the way home from theater
Laundry, which is a PITA b/c we have a new washer that uses more power than anything else ever in the house, which means we can't run washer and dryer at the same time; laundry take effing forever, nowadays, as the lights dim and brighten in time to the movement of the basket in the machine; TDNWMH in spades
Make plans with friend who is coming for Xmas week
Tagged everything for yard sale.
Noted street closures for the first ever Christmas parade from our local high school grounds, ran outside when a magnificent fireworks finish went off, beautiful.
Picked up 2 grandson who wants to help us. He is a joy.
Noted he has a cold, my brain screams,,,,NOooooooooo I just got done with a month of hard coughing. Oh well.
Went to retirement function of co-worker who was my immediate teammate and who had a wonderful send off, saw and talked with others from the office who also retired and it was a great reunion of sorts.
Tried to practice a walk through of smooth dancing, reached with left arm and my entire rib cage let me know that I am not ready to return yet. Wow. That hurt and sneezing hurts worse?
Hear from lifelong friends who will be in Rose Parade for the first time with their mini Airplane on wheels and three little escorts planes. Yep, right behind the Air Force Aux. band. Rose Parade inspectors, 8 of them, came out to inspect and decide, they admitted they didn' want to leave because they were having so much fun driving the planes. Lol. My turn, my turn!!!!! Lol.

Basically, a slow, kind-of-collapse day
Lesson, one of the first full-tilt lessons in a while, more dancing, less talking, but holy cow, what that talking has changed in me
Decide to clean the hood over the stove, which is
a) about 5' high and 6' long;
b) about 6' above floor level (yes, there are 12' ceilings in the kitchen) which means Ladder Time;
c) extremely dirty and greasy, as it hasn't been properly cleaned in a very, very long time;
When I was in junior high, my mother decided she wanted a copper hood over the stove, which, btw, is a staggeringly beautiful bad idea. This thing was lovingly handmade and installed by Tony the Neighbor, in the 1960s, during a refit of the cooking area that involved removing the decades-old giant cast iron restaurant stove (8 burners, two ovens, single high-intensity flame "burner", salamanders, the works) and building in more modern stuff (cooktop with four burners, single oven, built in gas grill), a decision my mother regretted basically from minute one. But the hood was gorgeous, for about five minutes, until it started to tarnish. It has been cleaned and polished maybe three times since 1967, and Friday night was the most recent. I just could not stand looking at that dirt for one more minute, and I wasn't doing anything like, y'know, fun. Not going dancing or to the theater or anything. So. Put on the oldest and rattiest clothes, gloved up, assembled ladder, scrubber, putty knife, sponge, paper towels, degreaser, and Bar Keepers Friend, my go-to cleaner. Four hours later, I have cleaned the grease/dirt paste off all five sections of hood, three sections are polished to a "ooh, how vintage!" kind of polish, and I am covered in unspeakably nasty fluids and solids. Time to call it a night; I'll do the last two sections in the morning.
Finish last two sections of hood, which look much cleaner than first three, b/c first three have ALREADY STARTED TO TARNISH, and let that be a lesson to anyone who ever decides to put a COPPER HOOD OVER A STOVE
Errands, including stopping at stores to get stuff I forgot yesterday, also stopping by my former work for a friendly chat with former co-workers; this nets me a cinnamon bun made by the pastry chef, and I have not had a cinnamon bun in years, and there may have been some moaning, eye rolling, and fanning self going on b/c it was so delicious you can't imagine
Home, to prep for the party; I'm hosting a Jarred Pasta Sauce Tasting Party; I have a Distinguished Panel of Adjudicators, judging sheets, etc. I am Chairman of Judges and Scrutineer, DB#4 is the runner (don't ask) and much red wine helps things along; end result: Mario Batali sauce wins by one vote, friends clean up, and a good time is had by all
Up early, Grandson pops up before sunrise without a hitch. Time to sell and earn some $$$.
Stage driveway. Ok, even I'm surprised by the sheer number of major photographs we had at our business.
Lots of people, even neighbors from 7:30 to 1 p.m. REALLY? in swarms.
GS bags, helps ladies to car with their items, and decides to bargain with some other kids about his books.
I have to laugh as he gets the hang of it.
DH is having a ball, and lo' & behold - his walking buddies - show up - walking up the street,,,WAIT? WHAT?
I only ever see them at the park.
This now becomes very fun. Weather is cooler but no wind! Rah Rah Rah.
At the end, one small box of donations for the VA, 3 pictures and 2 decor pillows are all that is left.
GS can't wait to get something with his earnings so yeah, and take him, OH GEEZ, to Toys R Us.
He an neighbor friend cruise the aisles, make selections and then examine, re-examine, re-cruise every aisle.
Take them, pick up DH - head north to neighborhood that really goes all out with Christmas Lights and themes but no music that goes with the lights. Throughly enjoy the evening walk among the homes and owners, the kids have a ball deciding which is the best house and while DH and I are somewhat exhausted, our "junk and un-used items" are now someone elses treasures while we bask in the glow of "less stuff". !!!
saturday...teach a class...nap...go to grocery with dh...cannot, for the life of me, remember what else....except that I know we sat in front of tree and listened to christmas music before bed...but I have got basically no memory of what occurred between 4pm and 8pm...except that I know that dh discovered a leak in the fuel line on our snow blower, and that the rubber seal on my wash machine also broke...
thusfar today I cleaned most of the floors in the house, we fixed the wash machine and began wave 2 of holiday baking
Baked vegan, gluten free, nut free, chocolate chip cookies. DH seriously could not control his cookie stealing ability so had to hide them.
Off to Home Depot for Christmas season plants and to take a look at floor tile for possible kitchen floor...ohhhh....ahhhh. Pretty. Lol.
Clear out garage of very few items left to donate to VA, schedule pick-up.
Cancel cleaning house Windows due to the last storm, because a new storm is hitting today.
Entice Farrell cat into yard and cheer her on when she catches that darn mouse!
Purchased great seats for an August night of Pagent of the Masters "grand Tour" theme which the husband is actually going to come with several of us,,,, why? Well, easy, it's the Grand Tour - and he loves road trip anything celebrating road trips!
today/thurs....teach a fitness class....visit with a former neighbor who is celebrating her 70 birthday.....it is a total mindblow because I have known her since I was 22 and she was 43 1/2...where did the time go? I adore her and visiting with her on each of our birthdays is something we always make happen....then broke down and got a costco membership and promptly dropped 350 bucks without even trying hard....field a call from dad who has decided to speed up a hip replacement...happy for him but wish it could have waited til he was back up north....currently cuddling kitties waiting for dh to return from DC
Spend most of the day prepping for a Jarred Pasta Sauce Tasting; as of noon, father thinks I am gonna fall on my face, b/c chaos reigns, but by the time the first member of my distinguished panel of judges arrives, all is under control; a good time is had by all, and wine flows, and judging sheets are filled out, and a surprise winner; cleanup done by Other People, so all in all, a huge win
Wheelchair class, a large one and very energetic and happy
Dinner with DB#4 and one other friend, at the Chinese place I discovered shortly after I came home from China and which has made me nostalgic for shanghai and also feeds my good-Chinese-food jones
Drive home in the snow; it doesn't fall long, nor stick around, yay
Everything in between is a blur
Lesson; one for the record books; Teach and I start talking about some seriously juicy stuff, which results in seriously juicy dancing, yay
again with the blur
Gyro; my last for about a month, as gyro teacher is going to New Zealand to visit her husband's family for the holidays
Lesson, in which Magic Happens, and Teach finally, finally stops referring to me as a cow (yes, my bar is that low; hey, it's an improvement over "marginally sentient bag of road salt")
BFF and I go wandering around the new Whole Foods that's just opened near us, and have BFF facetime *and* serious food tourism, total win
Home in time to make a yum dinner
Rolfer, who works on my seriously fubared neck/shoulder interface on the left side (cannot help but think this is related to doing a lot of Standard and body just hasn't gotten used to it yet)
Theater, this time I'm reviewing so I have to pay attention
Long conversation with DB#4 on the way home; gotta love bluetooth car/phone connection; that drive from 7th Avenue and 50th St. to home went by like a flash
Stop on the way home to write up notes from theater and have a glass of wine and bowl of soup
