Yoga & Ballroom

love pilates
love yoga
really love crossfit and tabata HIIT
love lift lots of heavy metal

just love it all...well running is kinda boring:eek:

meh HIIT will make you sweat harder, your heart beat faster and your calories disappear quicker than running

maybe coz i ran cross country in hs running is easy for me

as for yoga, irrespective of dance, it is something I need to get back to because it definitely causes me to be less sore, more flexible and mentally calm....it also helps my dancing

I just find I can't stand classes in general (I hate exercising in front of people) and have no patience for yoga or pilates. I tend to just do ballet barres and when I'm feeling daring, combinations. (Daring mostly because I have a vinyl tile floor and that gets interesting with dance shoes.)

I started Yoga last year. Sometimes classes, for the most part, DVD's at home since I can do this whenever I desire. I noticed a huge improvement in my stamina for multiple rounds of smooth...like all day. That said, I cannot ignore the fact that my stretch and flex are better than anything I've ever done. Pilates? yawn.

I've tried yoga a couple of different times, but when they start sequences that take you from a position down on the mat, and then up again, and then down again and up again - well, I'm tall with blood pressure on the low side of normal and a ridiculously slow heart rate, and I can't endure changing levels that quickly because the blood just doesn't get up to my head. I'd pass out.

My DH as well is in that boat with you. He has begun doing modified poses and using a supportive sturdy chair. He's currently looking for some Chair/and or seated Yoga DVDs as he too, the pessimist that he is, cannot deny that his back and hips are not killing him anymore.

I found Pilates to be interesting for a while, but found Yoga to be something more lasting that I have continued to practice. I have yet to go to one of those places with the Pilates machines. Not sure if that would make it more exciting, but it seems to cost more that way.

I tried yoga this morning. How do you get yourself into those positions?????? That was freakin' hard!!!
...
Same here. The poses became easier the more I practiced. I started with a Bob Harpers Yoga DVD since he starts in 2 week sessions and builds up into three sections of 2 weeks adding more Yoga Work as the weeks go on. I find that I bring this to a comp, throw in a few more poses and Wella. That said, we also found that in everyday life...this is excellent....no matter what time of day our practice takes place. Watched all my cousins do Yoga on the beach at the Grand Cay,,,seemed beautiful and challenging with gorgeous scenary and waves crashing. THAT inspired me...and off I went...can't wait to do this with my family at the beach...next time!
