Alicia Pons

Alicia Pons just left town. She put on some great work shops here and I got in a private lesson.

She is incredible. If you get a chance to go to one of her workshops, don't pass it up.

I only have 6 months of AT and am really struggling with close embrace. My musicallity is terrible, the workshop and private lesson really helped.

Couple comments:
I hope that all of you aspire to dance as musically. I have seen threads where people were wondering if they should be dancing to the music. Of course they should.
Also, ladies, if you are inspired by Alicia's embellishments, (as well you should be) please remember to also build a solid foundation to your dance by mastering the basics.

Steve: I agree with you! So very true!!!

Just so everyone knows, I was once one of the people who thought that knowing many steps was the key to being a good dancer. I was so very WRONG!

It is the quality of movement that makes one look good on the dancefloor, not the number of steps you know nor the amount of embelishments you do. Master the basics first as a foundation, then everything else builds over it.

If you look at Alicia Pons' movements they were mostly embelishments over the basic 8's & 6's. Simple and beautiful.
