Well it's finally happened... one of those things you always thinks happens to other people happened to me.
Dancing in Boston... wrenched my shoulder. I could feel the lead doing it each time he spun me-- a little extra downward pressure at the end. But only a little-- not even enough to say oww--it didn't seem that bad but here I am a couple of days later, stiff and without my usual range of comfortable movement. I didn't really notice it yesterday... but it caught up with me today... s t i f f.
I am now massaging and stretching the poor thing. Any extra recommendations? More importantly how do I prvent this? How do I tell a lead that it will eventually hurt although it does not at the moment? It seems like a small thing at the time... also, how do I get through the dance? I don't want to stop and give notes, nor stop following my lead... but how do I protect myself?
