I need some help w/ some stuff

Well I have been dancing since before I could walk and around the age of 4 my mother (god bless her) put me in a dance class (jazz and lyrical) in an area close to my home. Well I'm 16 now and a junior, next year i am hoping to have a solo for my senior year...but I have no clue for a song. My classes are coming up faster then I think I need to plan ahead for this because i want this last show to be memorable! Please help me!

and another thing...Lately I have been mesmorized by ballet...am i too old to just start taking ballet classes? :roll:

What style of dance are you planning to do your solo exhibition in? Will it be lyrical? Ballet? Other?

What kind of music do you like?

Welcome on board tinydancer!! We have some knowledgeable people in our forums. If you give us more details about type of dance and music, as Pygmalion asked, I'm wouldn't be suprised if someone can suggest something that works for you, or at least helps you get closer to your goal.

That solo sounds like alot of fun. Watching drill team spring shows, countless recitals, I would say that the most engaging performances come from dances that mix styles- involving remixed songs, with a combination of jazz, hip hop, and lyrical. The band Evanescence has a nice mix of heavier sounding guitar and voice plus the more lyrical sounding female singer's parts that would be an interesting way to go about things without having to mix music yourself. Goodluck. And its never too late for ballet! And dancesport!

Ballet...it's NEVER too late to start. While most professional ballet careers begin with training from a very young age, you can certainly learn this beautiful artform for your own enjoyment and to enhance you other forms of dance.

thanks for the warm welcome! This is a wonderful site and everyone is so nice...ok the style of dance that i will be doing is a mix of jazz and lyrical...and maybe if i can talk to my dance teacher about mixing some ballet into it! Ummm I some what want to dedicate my performance to my bestest friends, my mother and to my wonderful dance teacher. So it has a lot of feeling of gratitude in it and love. Something warm, yet with alot of style at the same time. Thanks so much...and if u have ne more great ideas please let me know!
