Ever had this problem?

Has anybody else every worked so much on a particular dance that you couldn't switch gears into another dance for a night. I spent 2 hours working wc swing in the studio. Then we headed out for our latin night and all night long I kept shifting into WC footwork to salsa music. :o It was terrible, and Salsa is by far not only my favorite but also best dance. So anybody else out there ever gotten a dance stuck in your nervous system?

Dont' know about Salsa/WC... I take lessons in International Waltz, and I did once interchange waltz and quickstep since they include chasses. One is faster than the other, but again those chasses got my legs tangled.

luckily for the most part I can keep the dances seperate. I'm not so much talking about confusing steps and footwork so much as I am talking getting a dance stuck in you head for a day or two much like a song might be.

Oh yea . . . Swing and Hustle . . . and now that I've switched break steps in Salsa to ct 1 (I know Jonathan will get me for this after we've debated so much on this subject), I now do my Cha Cha in the middle of Salsa and on count 1, which IS WRONG, at least in the venues that I will compete in.

Yep . . . it happened this past weekend . . . it "felt" right doing it on 1. See? You can teach an old dog new tricks!

Triple swing and cha cha get me every time. If I'm doing triple swing I'm OK, but sometimes when doing cha cha, I'll slip into triple swing.

Had a triple swing group lesson last week and one of the guys had just finished a private lesson, concentrating on cha cha. He was constantly stepping forward instead of back. Was absolutely hilarious, we both had a good laugh about it at the time.

I dont' usually get dances confused, but when I get confused in a dance my tendency is automatically to shift into Lindy. :/

All the time.

And it is not just between dances. I mess myself up just in salsa.

My timing is screwed because of the difference between the on1 and on2 dancing.

My footwork and technique is all loopy switching between cuban casino and NY style steps.

I don't even know how my back is supposed to feel straight after all those afro-cuban body waves and the difference posture between rumba and salsa.
