Chatting with someone else _ while they're dancing with you!

One thing that bugs the hell out of me is when I'm dancing with someone and they or someone off the dance floor strikes up a conversation with my partner or hurridly tries to book them for a dance later on.

To me, it's incredibly rude, inconsiderate and dismissive of the person you're dancing with. Surely they can wait 3 minutes for the dance to end?

Does it annoy anyone else?

Yep, I find it annoying as well - other then just waving or saying hello.

if it's one person who keeps doing it, yes. otherwise i can think of enough extenuating circumstances where if it happened once or twice a night. it occurs to me that this is more likely to happen if one is dancing primarily with partners that are extremely popular/in demand.

Hmm. I think there are some circumstances in which it's probably okay, or at least, not intended to offend. But most times, it's just plain rude. Hard to draw the line, though. Maybe it's as tsb suggested -- the repeat offender rule.

oh yes and there's dancing past the bar or buffet and grabbing a drink or sandwich as you go by. Only for the advanced philistine mind you.

well, i've had cases where the person i wanted to dance with were being monopolized - one in particular where the guy hovered when they came off the floor and when any guy came near he'd ask her to dance and take her back out on the floor. i finally got a chance to ask her to dance while she was getting a drink at the bar. last friday another person had to leave but wanted to do her last dance with me (before y'all start tuning up, - she's married but hubby doesn't dance) but was getting asked by a lot of guys. i guess the general principle is that i personally can condone discourtesy if it's a response to someone else's discourtesy (so much for turning the other cheek and the meek inheriting the earth, eh?)

works best in rumba or chacha; the latin arm styling is also good for an occasional noogie for anyone nearby with whom you have a a grudge or two

I've only had one person do this (I won't mention any names D NICE :lol: )

and I've actually have had a guy watch a basketball game while we were dancing :shock:

if it happened all the time I'd probably get annoyed or offended or something but it has yet to bother me too much... I just tease them about it later

This I DO find annoying :x .........happened yesterday. The offender was an 'alpha' salsera who is kinda known to do this :roll: .

So what did I do......? I went and monopolized someone else :lol: :lol: :lol: (ok, this someone else was my former dancer partner 8) )!

Can't beat 'em, join em'!
