Please help me find articles re: dance/dancefloor etiquette

Do you want swing-specific stuff, or do you want general dance etiquette? I've seen some of each.

I would like both/either. such as like do's and don'ts on the dance floor. stuff about being courteous to other dancers, what is considered "rude". etc. thanks!

btw. I remember seeing an article sometime back on etiquette for slotted dancers (so to speak LOL) , sharing the floor with non-slotted dancers. I think that would be nice to have here. Can anybody remember seeing that one?

Jenn, personally, I think the opposite - that those dancing in non-slots would notice and remember that others around them ARE dancing in a slot. Because those who do not dance in slots have a tendency to move around the floor, versus those of us who do not (move around) . . . we have to constantly watch them, yet we're not moving. Non-slot dancers should watch where they are going . . .

Actually I would say it is everyone on or near the dance floors individual reasponsibility not just for themselves and their partners but for everyone in their vicinity. I've been hit as often at crowded West Coast Swing dances where everyone is in a slot as I have at lindy hop events where slots in the WCS sense of the word don't really exist.

A number of westies dance in a slot with no end except the end of the dance. Not all, but enough for it to be hazardous. As much as lindy hoppers don't use a WCS slot they tend to be spot dancers using the same 6' circle. Easy enough to figure out the diameter of any given couple if you know what to look for. There are always bad dancers among the hoppers and the westies who don't pay attention to anyone else... it has nothing to do with the dance, but the dancers.
