Hmmm...

When I wrote my signature, it sounded so good I figured someone else must have said this at some point about dance, but I don't have the foggiest idea who. Therefore, I decided to list it as a quote attributed to someone "unknown".

Anyone have any ideas or knowledge that makes sense here?

Otherwise, I might just eliminate the "unknown" and lay claim to it myself.

( Then again, I'm unknown on this forum. Lol. )

Hmm. It's probably worth googling. Thre are a couple pages out there of dance quotes. 8)

The closest I found was

You may be able to lay claim to that quote after all. :wink:

Here are a couple more good ones. Check out the Frankie Manning one, especially. A wise man.

Actually .. i wrote that eact same phrase some time ago in my signature but on another forum.. just made it up/wrote it down one day..had never read it b4 in any text.. so if it was written by some author in text i wouldn't know.. unless u were reading stuff thru forums, read it under my sig. and it stuck to your head..

the phrase 'poetry in motion' was a pop song years ago 6o's? or maybe earlier.In the lyrics the singer is describing his swethaert
it has also become a well used expression by ports commentators to describe agile athletes -usually football or rugby players.

It is no doubt a useful simile but perhaps over used (judging by the google results) and wearing thin?

Found the John Dryden quote mentioned by Pygmalion.

Found the following, too!

Ah...bordertango's recall of a pop song with "poetry in motion"... wow ... yes, I remember something like that as well! And I recall some basketball announcer using "poetry in motion" to describe players, but I can't remember who, announcer or players. Wouldn't be surprised to hear football, soccer, or other sports announcers use this in their descriptions of athletes "dancing" with the ball.

I still like "Dance is poetry in motion". It could be proverbial! And since I don't know who Sabor is, and Sabor says it was used on another forum (which I haven't seen), maybe "unknown" is very appropriate afterall.

I'll keep looking when I make time to check the other "about 1,220,000" references google says it has. Oh my gosh!
